What is this business that I see on the web about Mullen as a candidate for Georgia job?

quote:

Sources have also said McGarity is interested in Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen should the Bulldogs part ways with Richt. McGarity previously worked under Jeremy Foley at Florida during Mullen’s tenure on Urban Meyer’s coaching staff.

Is this just some "breaking news" someone in the media is trying to get a breaking story on thier resume or do you believe there is any merit to it? I dont know what to say about this. Dan has done a ton for us and I would hate to see him go. I sure would hate to take a step back in time if Mullen left and we made a wrong hire. I mean look at Arkansas and Texas!

What say you DAWGS?

Do you remember the last time an SEC coach left for another SEC school? It hasn't happened in over 15 years. Too long to be coincidence, and I doubt Mullen would be worth 5 million a year or more to them anyway.

I guess my question is, would it really come down to a bidding war?

Would he take the job off principal not considering pay scale??

This. You don't see that anymore in the SEC. If he leaves it would be for another conference.

I don't want to see him go anywhere, but Mullen with GA talent would wreck shite in this conference.

All I am saying is that realistically he would have a better chance to make a championship run at UGA. Not that there is no chance he could win one here but if the staff got behind him and let him do his thing over there, he would would "wreck shite".

That being said, from what I have read he is very tough to get along with because he is so head strong and if the staff is not prepared for him to come in blow up the status qoue and be the complete boss then he may not fit in at UGA.

But I hope for our die hard fans and school's sake he sticks around and becomes the all time winningest coach at MSU and brings us a CFP Trophy before he retires at the age of 57 with 40 mil in the bank.

IMHO Mullen would have left already if he was ever seriously entertaining a move. The fact his name is not brought up all over sports media with all the coaching jobs open, tells me his agent has been told to keep his name out of it.

I see Mullen staying at Mississippi State until he retires or something falls apart and he gets fired (Richt, Bowden, Tubberville etc).

Well, one thing you can say about Dan, he has always been truthful. He said he's happy and plans on being a Bulldog. He just didn't say wheater it was Georgia or State

It could happen, if Georgia comes at him on a mission. That's what I don't see happening. I don't think Mullen wants to go anywhere, so it would be a major undertaking to get Dan and family out of Starkville. At any rate, he will leave Starkville for one reason or another, at some point.

I think he and Stricklin get along well and are on the same page in terms of building the program and the brand. I don't think that can be understated.

State has something few other schools do, and that is stability.

If memory serves, he's about 24 wins away from being the all-time winningest coach at State. That may factor in as well.

I've been pretty entertained by that dumpster fire myself.
