Hey Dawgs! Looking forward to our game this weekend. I figured we could start the conversation.

- Key is back but not 100% but for LSU it's definitely going to help
- Not sure if Rashard Lawrence will play on the d-line and he's a body we really need
- O-line interior has seen some suspect moments
- LSU is more than likely good for 10 penalties
- Can't find a good fg kicker so far
- Expect a lot of Guice as usual

Well... as others have said.. if this comes down to a FG kicking (or extra point kicking) contest, both sides will end up dying from heart attacks

I think the MSU D can limit the LSU rushing attack, my concern would be Etling getting a few long completions in. If your offensive line is actually poor, particularly up the middle, you will be in trouble and this game score will be low.

While I think Mullen is a great OC, we have trouble against dominant defensive lines (ie bama) -- I'm not sure how good the LSU D-line this year is as yet.

Should be a good close game.

TLDR: both sets of kickers may suck.

Our O-line is less than ideal going against the LSU D-line. It seems like our unranked and lowest ranked guys often end up being the better players in this position group.

Regardless of what some of our own fans think. Our RB group should list as followed on the depth chart -

Kylin Hill
Dontavian Lee
Nick Gibson/Aeris Williams
Alec Murphy

Mullen gonna Mullen though.

Anyway, our front 7 is nasty and deep.

Here's to a good'un

Etling likes to roll out and hit the outs. I really think that this game we'll see more out and up routes from our receivers. We have played I believe 19 true freshman so far. Lot's of youngsters on the defense.

Dude, no way. I love Hill and think he is the future but Aeris runs well too. We will see how he looks against tough competition but Lee over him is laughable, no way you're serious.

Our defense so far looks nasty, as it should, there is a ton of talent there. However, we are all scarred from a few seasons of busted coverage and lack of containment, so we will see.

Offensively, a lot of it really comes down to the OL. The left side of the line is rock solid, but our RT is young and still learning. How he steps up to the competition will be a big factor in the game. If the OL is pushing and we can run the ball effectively, the offense will run like a machine. If not, it could be a long night.

Which brings the other, and probably biggest, factor in Fitz. He is capable of putting on a show and being virtually unstoppable. He is also capable of being the opposite, it was nice to see him get in a groove after starting slow last week because a year ago I don't think he would have climbed out of the slump. Again, he's best when our RB's are able to get some yards, so that's something to keep an eye out for.

What isn't a question mark, and will be a factor in a game like this, is our punter. He is one of the best in the country and will be kicking on Sundays.

------------------------------------------

In summary: Fitz is not Dak in year 5 yet, he cannot win these type of games on his own. We need production from our RB's to score points. That being said, defense is filthy and so is our punter, so it could still be a low scoring fist fight if offense isn't having a good night.

Lee has the legs and can move the pile at 230lbs. It should be a crime with how little he's been used in the offense over his career. I like Aeris but he can't do that.

He should have gotten more touches by now for sure. Aeris has really good vision though and almost always gets at least 3 yards even against a stacked box. The consistency really helps get our offense moving.

I wish he had more top end speed though.

Good luck with that. I'm not sure the "Network" even shows our replays every week anymore.

Watching the Last two games, dropped easy passes grind my gears. Keytoan should have a TD pass and I count count how many dropped Fitz passes. At least 6.

Against La Tech, Fitz needs to address his David Carr side arm release he's been doing.

I just don't think Fitz is good enough to pick apart the elite defenses he will face. I think he will explode against the lesser competition but Grantham will really have to earn his paycheck the next three games.

There is really no excuse for the dropped passes.

One thing I fully expect to see this week is a lot more Donald Gray. Think they have been intentionally keeping his targets down.

Yea, I got a feeling LSU will be pretty effective at muting our run game. Nothing in the first two games of this season has given me a ton of confidence we'll be able to pick apart the one-on-one matchups we're almost guaranteed to see. Maybe I'll be surprised, though. I tend to be overly pessimistic with this stuff.

If we can exploit them, though, Bama is going on notice immediately.

Or maybe Simmons scores enough TDs in this game that none of this matters B)

Yeah Aranda is just too good of a coordinator. Whenever he leaves Orgeron is going to be pretty boned.

Seeing Auburn struggle that badly offensively is making me more optimistic about that game.

I am not sure how good Georgia is really.

You won't pass much at all. You have been rushing it 70% of the plays called this season. MSU will play the run, and a 3-4 helps them with that.

If you have 44 plays on offense, he will only pass it 13 times.

I've not seen that issue this year for you. They were young last year.

I saw 2 plays that stick out in my mind. He simply didn't know who to block. He missed his assignment. It's not that he can't block.... just was confused.

The read is there to help what people see as deficiencies in the OL. The OL looks great to me except for the young guy missing a few assignments. I'm willing to say he won't start this game.

Here is what I like about him this year. He has kept his head in the game and you have a defense that will keep you in the game giving him time, and taking pressure off of him.

Last year vs South Alabama, the defense could not help. It was sad to watch. When MSU was down at La Tech, the defense stepped up and that my friend, is what a championship team has to have. MSU has that.

I think you had 4 or 5 games last year you would have won had THIS defense been on the field.

USA
LSU
BYU
UK
Ark

That would have made MSU a 10-2 team.

Nice summary. I want to point out that your QB isn't the leading rusher. The 2014 Dak team accomplished that. In fact, THIS team is averaging MORE per carry than the 2014 team vs similar teams to open the season.

Right now, you are on pace to pass that team by 650ish yards.

Passing... My question is how much of an effect did your QB coach leaving for houston have on developing his mechanics. We are about to see.

TE, TE, more TE. That will force the one on one for Gray.

No Production with the TE, MSU will not win.
