Coonass, I ain't piling on b/c at first I started to agree with you b/c it's hard for any player to actually make it to the big leagues. I'd guess maybe half of the first round picks actually make it. But the more I look at the padres OF, man they suck and the Padres show no interest in dealing Hunter away at this point.

quote:

He still only hit .259 in AA while striking out 1 out of every 4 AB's

Those stats aren't hall of fame by any means but comparable numbers of Matt Kemp in SD are .267, 14HR, and a strikeout ratio of 1 for every 4 AB. Even the other OF's suck. J. Upton is batting .255, 20 HR, with a little over 1 SO per 4 AB and whoever they're throwing out there for utility sucks too. And yes, I know there is a huge difference between MLB and AA but damn.

If anything Hunter should benefit from that b/c their AAA club isn't in any much better shape.

Just so we know where the goal posts are in this argument, is it make it to the show? Play on the team for a year? Start for year? Hit .300 with 40HR and 100 RBI's?

Play one full year in MLB

Wow what? Ive said from the beginning I dont think his bat can keep him in MLB. And he just hit .259 in AA. People that hit .259 in AA dont usually hit that high in MLB.

And? That doesn't mean they won't play a year in MLB. Look at the astros OF. Collectively, they're probably not hitting over .260 yet, somehow they're in 1st place. Astros Colby Rasmus has been in the league for 6 years hitting about .250 and I've watch that mullet strike out every other AB it seems. His minor league stats don't jump out either.

I'll admit though, it's still a long way to go for him.

I know most of these posts have been about his offense but from everything I have read he has been playing very good defense as well.
