Coach34/Coonass said that he was too slow and not athletic enough to make a difference vs the Bama secondary.

LOL. He's modified that a bit. He said you could call him out after he has played one full season in the NFL.

Renfroe was spotted at Bo's Hideaway last Friday with fat stacks yo. He paid a couple strippers notes on their trailers with cash he blew. He was looking like Kenny fricking Powers in there.

I read the other day that the Padres are using him as trade bait.

He is only one of 2 Padres to play in all 6 games. His 12 AB is tied for the most on the team. He isn't on the 40-man roster, so it will be tough to make the team coming out of spring training, but they are giving him a good look.

Hunter is batting .289 through the first 9 games in AAA this year. He has no homers, but he does have 6 doubles in his 11 hits.

We are approaching the first anniversary of this thread. The Padres have space issues with calling Hunter up, but there is a lot of buzz right now about when he will make the jump.

Hunter Renfroe named PCL Player of the Week

quote:

Some scouts believe Renfroe, Baseball America's No. 86-ranked prospect entering this season, is ready to make the jump to the majors right now.

quote:

He might not arrive in San Diego until later this summer, however. Current outfield starters Melvin Upton Jr. (left), Jon Jay (center) and Matt Kemp (right) all could become trade pieces, but Upton and Kemp's contracts will be difficult to move.

But to be fair,
quote:

Another candidate for a second-half call-up is El Paso center fielder Manuel Margot, the Padres' No. 1 prospect. After a slow start, the 21-year-old entered Monday hitting .293 (17-for-66) with a .354 OBP, three doubles, a triple, a home run and five steals.

Those numbers aren't bad, but damn that's their #1 Prospect? Then again, we are talking about the Padres.

ETA: Renfroe's numbers are far and away better than Margot's. I don't see how you can look at that on paper and justify calling him up over Renfroe.
