I don't understand why Mullen doesn't bring in Jackie to coach ST. Our field goal kicking has been a pile of shite for a few years now

Guys get worse in our ST system. Happened with Bell and now Cooke. Not sure if anyone else has noticed but Cooke doesn't have anywhere near the leg he had last year or in the spring.

Not sure if they just have them kick until their legs get sore or what but something isn't right there.

Our field goal kicking has been around the same...actually a little better fg% wise under Mullen's tenure.

Anyways, he missed a 52 yarder...that's not an easy kick for a non-NFL kicker.

It's not like he missed bad neither, just over corrected. He had more than enough leg, that's for damn sure. The first one he hooked came out like a damn bullet.

Would have been nice to have had the luxury of getting him centered. That's a really hard kick to make from the right hash.

I am not going to get angry about missing a 52 yarder...yeah it sucked.

I am angry about Dak being a pocket passer.

If there's a silver lining about this weekend it's that maybe our road schedule isn't as tough this year as it originally appeared to be.

Won't matter tho if we don't balance our offense back out. Dan and Dak need to go back and watch this game + Bama and OM last year and think long and hard about why we basically lost the same way each time.

We could easily string together some wins if we figure out what the hell has gone wrong lately. Besides Bama there isn't one game on the schedule that is worse than a toss up. It would help if Auburn and Arkansas lose some games between now and then and have their seasons unravel.

The reason our percentage has been better is because no one has been able to kick past 40 yards

All we have to do is get Dak to start running the ball, along with seeing our OL gel a little. I think they did so some in the second half against LSU.

I'm not worried about the defense but Dak has to run. Stop with the pass first pocket passer bullshite.

Dak is leaps and bounds better throwing the ball than I ever would have expected but I'm worried more about what's best for the team.

Him throwing 6 times more than running is not a good recipe for success.

I think the one thing that has become a trend for CDM is his conservative approach in general. Whether it comes to play calling, and not being aggressive vs better teams or too quick just to play field position when backed up, not playing more athletic/talented (yet inexperienced players) earlier, even tempering aggressiveness on defense by giving cushions to WRs.

If it's one thing to say the kids were waiting on someone else to make a play, but it's another to show them you believe they will by calling plays aggressively, putting guys out there and living with the results, knowing that exposure to game situations helps players grow faster than watching film.

Yeah I agree with that. It's so frustrating when he gets in those "try not to lose" mentalities. You saw him open up in the second half and we had all kinds of success. He does that in the first half and we win the game.

I don't really have a problem with Dak throwing it a lot. Our strength is obviously at the receiver/tight end positions (never thought I would say that as a MSU fan).

He just needs to take off when he has wide open field in front of him.

I don't either...especially until the oline gels. I have huge issues with our personnel management (as does most of everyone on here does). I don't really have issues with RB reps other than not letting Lee/Williams get more reps, Shumpert looked good when given creases vs LSU...Holloway is fine for change of pace (3-4 carries a game)...but the safety and the hybrid LB rotation is HORRENDOUS right now..

Not only that, if you review the 2-point conversion attempt in slow motion, you'll see that Shump let the football simply roll off his chest onto the ground. That's twice he's fricked us entering the endzone.

I think we see more of Gabe Myles this weekend.

Some WR screens we haven't seen much of this year, Dear with a few end arounds, options...

I think the offense will open up this weekend to full tilt. Mullen knows how important this game is.
