Say UK loses today and any good will Stoops has built up is likely out of the door.

He has a $12 million buyout this season, $8 million the next I believe on the remainder of his contract.

My question is who do we even realistically go after? Or do we put aside the urge to get rid of Stoops and see if he can still grow into a decent HC?

You keep him at least 1 more year, which sux

I had y'all as my "surprise team" last year & the year before that

Refused to call it this year, cuz I wanted to see something positive from y'all

But there is nothing there, if anything, Wild ate have regressed - at this point, I won't be surprised if you wind up owning the basement in the East behind Mizzou

Really sux, I don't even know what to say...

Well, we are off to a horrible start. The loss to Florda was expected, although I thought we would be competitive and we weren't.
The Southern Miss loss is worse, just because we have a 24 point lead at home.

We are now in year 4 of Stoops, all his own players and recruits. We have had I think our 4 highest ever ranked recruiting classes in history, or at least the last 15 years and we still look pretty awful on both sides of the ball.

It has to be coaching and game prep right? I mean, how do you have better talent than ever and continue to achieve the same results we have always gotten.

I think the boosters need to do another move like they did with Cal, go line up the coach, pay the money to Stoops, and get someone hired, basically sidestepping Barnhart. I liked Stoops and his hire at the time, but unless things change dramatically, we are in for another long season. Barnhart should be fired for the contract UK is stuck with now.

Now, stepping back from the ledge for a minute. We will beat New Mexico State and South Carolina, lose to Bama, but beat Vandy, that puts us at 3-3. State and Missouri are beatable and Austin Peay, that would be six wins. If we get to six, I keep Stoops another year, but he has to get rid of Eliot. It's not working on defense.

Make Stoops the highest paid recruiter in CFB and get a new coach.

I saw you PM on the rant, I don't know how to do those, and went to the help board and not finding much help on it there, but I liked your post!

You can PM me back the same way on that thread, but looks like Stonehog already got there first.

He's on my list as well. I also think the possibility of bringing Neal Brown back would be realistic.

Obviously if Miles becomes available after the season, you throw the fricking kitchen sink at him and bring his quirky arse to Lexington.

He'll never coach at Kentucky IMO. He'll hang out at Western Kentucky and wait for another opening because of his family's ties to the University of Louisville. They want no part of Kentucky, especially football, being successful. Great coach and I've love to have him. But the Brohm family hate for UK runs pretty deep.

ETA: Honestly, I think he's waiting for Bobby to frick up at UofL to take that spot.
