...and looking for outside opinions. (I wouldn't get squat on tRant).

It looks a helluva lot like Donnie Tyndall can coach. I mean really, really, coach. He's an X's and O's man, imo, and it appears he can get performance even out of this whacked out roster.

I played bball myself and think I've got him pegged but it's so early and with the NCAA looming, I'm a bit afraid that I have it all wrong or that he'll be gone before we know it. But him getting NCAA's isn't what I'm interested here.

What I'm interested in is what y'all think of him as a coach? All opinions welcome.

In terms of X's and O's, I think he's a solid guy. I've been impressed with his work with Richardson for y'all. He took Morehead State to two of their 7 all-time NCAA appearances. And his guys generally played good defense.

Tennessee, with the facilities and support, could sustain a good coach. I think if he goes anywhere it's because the NCAA has been up his arse at multiple stops and Tennessee's hand may get forced. He was at Morehead for 6 seasons.

Didn't want to start a new thread but wanted to say good game to y'all....y'all outhustled and killed us inside. I wish we could get our hands on a talent like WCS.

OH and you guys always show out in numbers, pretty impressive.

Thanks for the analysis Belle. Richardson has been amazing this season, really this team shouldn't be where it's at with such a hodgepodge roster but they keep fighting and improving.

And yes, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to support a top coach and elevate the program but we've had such a lousy string of luck with men's coaches. Our facilities are top notch and there's a support base there but bad hires and the NCAA have really been a thorn for us. AD Dave Hart was a basketball player at Alabama under their legendary coach and invested himself deeply in this hire so I do think he'll fight tooth and nail for Tyndall if it comes to that.

Well so much for Tyndall. Moving on... whaddya think about Barnes.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't congratulate y'all on an amazing season. Although, I said preseason that we ought to go ahead and just crown you Champs, the season has been mind blowing. Wayyyy above what I thought and I already thought the Wildcats would be unstoppable this season.

You guys are in a bit of a bind. Barnes built Texas, no question about it.

I think he leaves a good base for the next guy to take over. He'll leave the program a lot better than he received it.

I agree and the likely outcome is that he'll be solid like he was at Texas but may not be the breakthrough coach we all want. That said, one thing I saw in Barnes that gives me hope that he might takes us at least to the Final Four (if we ever get our roster worked out) is that he very much sounds like he has an enormous chip on his shoulder because of how things went down at Texas.

He's got something to prove now and the change of scenery may do him good. If the newness doesn't fade and he continues to be re-energized he'll do well and hopefully recruit at the level he did at Texas. BUT even if he doesn't go further I'm fine with what he did at Texas and leaving a good foundation. Unfortunately, our basketball situation has taken too many hits to expect amazing results -- we need a stabilizer first.

That all said, he has his work cut out for him given our roster and Tyndall basically not being able to recruit with the NCAA cloud hanging over his head.

My expectations are pretty low for next year.
