Muschamp stepping down, Fowler declaring for the NFL draft 2 months before necessary. And a pretty good E. Kentucky team (they're 9-2). This team could keep us from being bowl eligible. If UF is distracted and doesn't show up ready to play.

I think we'll be bowl eligible but we'll be passing it up no matter what, I should think.

We'll probably play our best games these last ones.

Pass it up? Lol not a damn chance. Bowl practice is extremely important for young players.

Why would we pass up a bowl game?

It's never happened with any program ever, right?

I think we may do the same, depending on what bids we get.

Considering we'll be 6 - 5 (unless we beat FSU, which is unlikely) -- and looking at Fowler leaving so early it makes me wonder if we'll actually accept.

I doubt it, but we'll see.

Straw Straw Straw...we get a lot of extra practice time being selected to a bowl....of course we would accept.

NCAA rules really restrict the number of hours coaches can practice players these days...I think its something about their education??

We're not passing it up.

We'll go. Like everyone else said, it is worth too much if for the extra practice time alone.

If we're not passed up altogether. I just can't imagine we'll want to do any extracurricular activity to go to a worthless bowl.

I suppose Notre Dame is a poor example because they are pretty arrogant, but there's a lot of stuff we're going to be sorting out by that time.

A lot.

You get 15 extra practices for a bowl game. You only get 15 for the spring semester. It's a big deal. Most of those guys will be here next year, and it is quite literally akin to an extra semester's worth of practice.

ETA: Up to 15. Obviously, if you play an early bowl game, you don't get as many as if you play later.

Never said it has never happened. But there are teams that lost the head coach and did still go to the bowl game. But like others said I just thought you are losing out on extra practice and the experience the players will get, not to mention we didn't go to a bowl last year. The players come to Florida to go to bowl games not get left out like last year.

That's what I'm saying, man, I mean, like I said: I know Notre Dame is way snobbier than we are, but even with the practices I don't think it's good for the program to send lame ducks to a bowl (a la Ohio State Muschamp's first year) and potentially get beaten and lower the stock than it is already.

At this point I'd just cut my losses and focus on the next season.

I will concede that what I said is probably not true (you guys have convinced me otherwise), but I wouldn't be surprised if we just declined the Wallgreen's Shopping Cart Collector's Bowl and focused on a new regime.

My guess is we will play somewhere between Dec. 29 and Jan. 3 depending on who ends up in the Music City Bowl, Liberty Bowl, and Birmingham Bowl. The biggest problem I see here is the possibility of Legion Field collapsing on the team if we ended up in Bham.

I know fans don't dig these games, but I would hate to take that from the seniors, who I know would want one more game. Plus, I am in the camp that believes the benefit of practice far outweighs the negatives of a loss.
