It seems that everybody we play hates us because their athletic program isn't on the level of UF's. I consider our main rivals to be FSU, UGA, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina and Miami. In that order.

Even growing up in Atlanta, I never despised UGA (mostly because we whooped their arse every year). I hate them, but I don't hate them the way I hate FSU. I watch reruns of old games where we beat the frick out of those bastards. Half of my family likes FSU and the other half likes UF. Thanksgivings are never friendly. I hate FSU more than any team we play.

Who do you consider our biggest rival and why?

UF's biggest rivals are FSU, UGA, Ponzi Scheming MFers, and Auburn.

My big rival is the Ponzi Scheming MFers. Their fans are the fricking worst fans. POS. They only go to a few games and have never been on campus. Most of them probably have never attending anything except a football game.

Being a little long in the tooth, my rivals list looks like this

UG - before 1984 they kicked our arse like we do theirs now. I grew up in Jacksonville, hate UG fans

FSucks - Little sister, most of their fans used to be UG fans.

scUM - little private school that got famous in football by recruiting thugs

Tenn - East rival since 1992, before that didn't play very often

Auburn, Alabama and LSU - just tough west rivals that we have to play. LSU starting to rise on the list.

FSU, UGA, and Tennessee.

Tier 2
Miami is up there, and LSU is making a run.

Auburn was a great old rivalry, but they don't play enough anymore.

#1 FSU - Not much needs to be said if you've lived in Florida

#2 UGA - They have been better "historically" but we have passed them recently in achievements...and that burns their asses

#3 UT - No tooth, shite talkin' hillbillies will tell you in a second how great they use to be

#4 LSU - Up till this season, they were like the friend you had known your entire life. You'd get into fights in the back yard...but you were still friends afterwards.

Atl, you are just too damn young to know what we suffered through in the mid 1960s through 1989 with the leghumpers. Steve Spurrier in 1990 relieved a lot of older fans by beating their azz every year except 1997 when Danny and a lot of talent had left from our NC year.

Sit in the cold rain and watch them humiliate us in 1968 to a score of 51-0 or whatever...then you'd know what I mean.. we used to have to play AU & UGA back to back without a week off for years and one of them or both would beat us.

Back in the 1960-70s the girls school wasnt anything like they are now...I remember in the early to mid sixties their schedule was full of Catawba, Citadel, Wake, Univ of Tampa, the ibis bunch (who werent anything either and came close to shutting their football program down in the early 1970s), Wofford, Samford and the like...they had no $$ at all.

We never played Bama much at all, we played AU & UGA every year and played Miss St a lot with LSU on the schedule a lot...we also never played Vandy, Ole Miss or UT much in the 1960s...we did play Ga Tech every year and they were damn good back in 1960s and Tulane...we played both of those two schools even after they left the SEC because of scheduling and Tulane & Ga Tech games for the first couple of years counted as SEC games even though they left...which meant the SEC only had 10 teams and with us...that meant only 9 teams to schedule and back then contracts were honored and set in stone years in advance. I think the last of our scheduled Ga Tech games was in 1981.

1. UGA - This isn't close. Always been our biggest rival
2. FSU - Easily 2nd biggest rival
3. Auburn - I'd rank Auburn over Miami. Historically, UF has had a HUGE amount of games with HUGE impact with Auburn.
4. Miami - Distant 4th IMO.
5. Alabama/LSU - Bama for the matchups in the SECCG, and LSU for the past 15 years in the regular season.

1. FSU -- In-state rival, have traded off runs in modern times

2. UGA -- Conference and geographical threat

3. Tennessee -- See 2, less of a threat

4. LSU -- We don't like each other very much

5. Miami -- Has potential for huge rivalry but they've been too irrelevant the past fifteen years

6. Auburn -- Was a budding rivalry before the SEC fricked it up

7. Ohio State -- We own them

8. Michigan -- They own us

I guess I am too young. I know all about what happened before 1990 with UGA, I guess not being alive to actually see it is why I don't see them as as big of a rival. I still hold that our three biggest rivals are FSU, UGA, and Tennessee.

I remember being a little kid and my dad talking about how bad he hated Tennessee for all the shite they talked before the 1996 game and for ruining a national championship appearance for us in 2001

FSU by far because they a lot better against us in my life time. They have also won championships .

Tennennesse and UGA would be next on my list because they have been the top 2 teams in the division besides us over the last 30 years but we seem to own them in my life time.

Box and Reel I agree with.

Perhaps it's my age also that plays a factor. So many years Georgia or Auburn would crush our dreams. FSU could beat us 20 years in a row for me to place them number 1. Even then I don't think they'd pass Georgia.

FSU

I think this is highly dependent on when you grew up-- if you're in your 40s or older you grew up watching Georgia kick our arse and FSU be a decent but by no means nationally relevant team. For younger fans- FSU has for all but the Meyer years been by far the closest rival, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the only team that we play consistently that has a winning record against us in my lifetime.

Your life time has been short ....wish everyone could have been around for the entire sixties. Even mid 1970s we were explosive but UGA had our number when Dooley took over in 1964.

I was doing marketing today and stopped by a large ins agency...they put up two portraits of the founder of the company...one was a group pic of Tennessee's`1960 football squad and another one was of the founder and his UT diploma. I never knew he was a UT grad...but I dealt with his grandson more than anyone.

The 1960 squad almost puts him at the time when UT passed on a promising Volunteer State QB prospect forcing him southward and changing the SEC forever.
