That's the chatter on 247. Imo why waste a year of eligibility on a bowl game?

Yea, that would be dumb to waste the RS now. Probably just message board rumors.

They probably don't expect Appleby to survive the seccg.

The real conundrum is who goes into play if Appleby gets hurt? I think it has to be Franks. They said that Franks and Appleby were splitting the reps at the walk thru.

I'd understand Franks playing in the bowl game if he has to burn his RS today. Also, great quarterbacks tend to leave early for the NFL anyway, so why not play Franks while he's here, because if he turns into a phenom, were only going to get to have him for two seasons.

Well.....if its on the internet it must be true then?

As for one of our frosh QBs leaving early as a junior, not much chance of that...really only Grossman did that and he didnt care for Zook's offense or listening to anyone...he always felt that he could fit a ball into a 2 ft sq window at 30 paces....and he was a party animal...so theres that.

I would want the redshirt to remain intact...but maybe the NCAA rule could allow a bowl in 2017 not impact the 2016 redshirt? That would be cool. For those that clamoured for Franks or Trask to burn a redshirt, I do want to remind you that Franks high school AA game here in St Petersburg was less than memorable to say the least. His team mate was Eason and Easons first throw was 20 yds into the stands on a wide flanker screen. Both were too pumped up. In our spring game I think the same thing happened to Franks when he was inserted.

Of the two QBs Franks and Trask...it is my opinion that Franks could be the future. At 6'6" he wont run much at all..but he has put on a lot of weight since arriving as a very skinny kid. Our spring game will be telling in a way since we can get a glimpse of Franks mechanics and see Trask throwing also and whatever transfer we might get.

As for startinga bowl game...my only concern would be that we want to win and kick start the 2017 season off the right way. If the coaches have confidence...then I'll have confidence. I really like Appleby from the pure standpoint of being a team player and Im sure he has tried to assist both young QBs.

If the bowl game doesn't burn the redshirt, then sure, give it a shot. If it burns the redshirt then it's abhorrently stupid.
