I have to say this is one of the ugliest wins Ive seen. It was God awful for our offense and I know Vandy has a great defense.....but.

We have stopped throwing to TEs and Jake McGee...WTF? We throw one damn pass to Goolsby...thats it. # 83 McGee has the best hands on the team...so why arent we using him since Treon took over?

Is he "color blind"...I will let you mull that and I dont like to see our punter nail a 50+ punt to pin Vandy back and only white players came up to him and slapped him on the back...when he came to the sidelines..whats going on?
I hate to broach this subject but damn. Like to know what you guys think.

Treon has GOT to be taught the nuances of being a QB. He never ever sits in the pocket...even when he has time, he just looks for 1 second and then his feet are moving and he will try to throw on the run or try to run and yesterday he was usually hit for loss or min gain. Watch the replays. He is short and that hinders him some...but he has to learn to wait to scan the field and then run if he has to . He is just ready to dart as soon as he gets the snap. Thats not our offense.

I saw the replay of Ralph Webbs 74 TD run and I will explain what happened...very simple...we had put scrubs in for some starters...McMillian # 13 was the biggest culprit and he has been blocked out of run plays before. We also had Duke Dawson and one of two other true frosh on the field....Vandy had the ball at their 26 and our DC made the mistake of thing it was ok to sub players....well Vandy took McMillian 6 yards out of the play and you could run 2 Mack trucks through the hole. Take away that blunder and VU did nothing all day. God help us if Davis leaves us.

I feel like Ive been in 12 round heavyweight fight....just stunned that our OL played soooo horrible and VUs DL look like an NFL defensive unit against them. We didnt start Sharpe and we inserted Fred Johnson at the ROT position and he is a monster..but a true frosh with a lot of learning to do...he literally blocks out the sun with his frame. McCallister had a great game and may get the offer he wants on the next level....but he is only 240 and close to 6'7"...he needs 20 lbs at least. This game certainly caught the eye of some scouts though.

I dont think we can expect to beat USC at Columbia...they are playing much much tougher with the new interim HC. I expect them to empty both barrels at us and our team will be tough to inspire....lets see how McElwain can motivate them. It would be a real letdown to lose a game now after all we have done.

couldn't help but notice that True Freshman Camrin Knight was in on the very 1st series of the game. Anyone able to chime in on this?

Only thing I can think of is our coaches took Vandy lately and tried getting the backups early/meaningful snaps. I.e.: Scarlett getting the start and early carries (which I don't necessarily mind, btw).

The long Webb run was also helped by a dang zebra getting in the way of Neal.

I have no idea what kind of gameplan we have week to week with Treon. You are right he is too quick to leave the pocket. Can someone tell him on a WR screen to throw it to his chest not his feet.

Is anyone else tired of seeing the dang QB rollouts with pressure as soon as the QB turns his head downfield. Something in the blocking scheme is not working on that play.

IMO quick passes and TE involvement is the only way we move the ball in the air. Treon will get lucky and connect on a deep pass every now and then but we need first downs.

I think the players know that a playoff birth is still possible so they will show up to USC. I'm going so they better.

We had 4 turnovers on their side of the field and IMO 2 blown calls by the ref one of which was a TD. So if those things don't happen we may be playing a different instrument right now.

As far as only the white players giving props to the punter. I didn't really notice and I hope that wouldn't be a problem. But with the things going on at Missouri who knows.

Its late and I had been drinking which is dangerous for me to be on the internet after a shitfest like that one.

I just saw another replay and we had #8 Washington on the field...I know he has played a lot of special teams and some dime stuff...but we basicially had fewer starters out there and with 50 seconds left in the first half we paid for it. Neal wasnt responsible for protecting the middle of the field...McMillian was and he got manhandled, and as I have seen him do before...he gets into traffic on the line and OL just push him easily out of a play.

Neal might not have caught Webb with or w/o ref in the way...as he had poor angle once Webb broke through....and you would think with less than a minute in the half that we might have a player to stop long play? Hargreaves was on far side engaged with receiver and no way he could catch him. Webb had open field in front of him and I honestly cant remember a more wide open area for a RB than that. I could have scored.

Back to Treon...he was Mr Happy Feet every single pass play. But I cant understand WHY not one pass went to McGee? He had fumble and a pick...very careless. DRob fumbled after trying to really get extra yds. We just couldnt concentrate. I disagree about our team being motivated to play USC because of the possible berth in the CFP....hell...if we couldnt get ready at home to clinch SEC east how can we get ready this weekend? At least three teams ahead of us lost and there will be more in the next 3 weeks. The prize is right in front of us.

I've insinuated it before with the Driskel fiasco that there might be some racism going on, but I don't think we have nearly enough evidence to prove it one way or another at this point. That's a non-problem for the moment, but we definitely have to pay a little bit of attention.

As for Missouri, well, their team sucks. So it's really easy for them to go on strike when they lose every game.

My take on the game: Sleepwalking into a trap game, that's all this was.

Treon is legitimately bad, though, he's got no passing attack. We have to get the TE's the ball, but Treon can't seem to make easy passes even when they're right in front of him. He's almost always a yard or two off the passes, and while he hits it sometimes (he got a nice curl route), he is woefully inconsistent.

This board always questions the race card when we have a black QB. You all did it with Leak now you are doing it with Harris. It isn't a problem, stop reaching.

In terms of the happy feet, our o-line was getting dominated and Harris doesn't have the quick release nor the ability to stand in a pocket like Grier. I think most importantly the staff needs to work on teaching Harris to hit the hot route and throw to where a receiver will be, instead of where they are.

Also, I really want to clear up something that bothered me in the game - the retarded announcers said it, and now folks here are repeating it. That interception Treon threw was a GOOD play. Seriously, it was 4th down, he was going to get stopped short of the marker on his run and nobody was open. So he took a shot at a deep ball and gave his receiver a chance to make a play. It got picked, but as a result Vandy lost about 20 yards. They would've been better off if they had just let it fall incomplete.

Disagree strongly...race has seldom been brought up. Im not stating that race is why McGee hasnt been targeted like he was with Grier...I just notice that McGee hasnt been thrown to much at all since Treon started again. He did throw a hail mary to McGee out of bounds in desperation mode against LSU on 4th down...and a few passes were thrown to him in LSU & UGA games and none yesterday.

My main problem is Treon has taken too many sacks or been halted with little gain. Sure, he has ran nicely a few times...but we need him to be more consistent. This is his second year and he needs to show improvement...not regression.
Agree that the OL had their lunch money taken from them, one of the poorest showings of the year...we did better blocking against LSU. VU was in Treons face quite often and thats when I wonder why we dont have extra blockers at H back or in backfield? Id rather send just Callaway & DRob and McGee on routes and keep Treon upright...but he has happy feet....watch replays and look at nothing but his footwork and get back with me. I tend to breakdown the game with the OLs and QB footwork first. It will tell you a lot. Treon's feet were moving around sometimes before he even got the snap...thats bad for QBs....he is showing that he wants to run or roll out and the defense has easy read. He may as well shout out loud "hey Im rolling out to the left this play"

As far as the pick he threw...he was scrambling and I think he was trying to throw it away as he was inches away from sideline...but regardless it was a careless play. Bama or LSU make you pay for that....cause they might have returned it to the house. Effort isnt my gripe about Treon...not at all...but I think we will have our hands full with USC this saturday and might lose if we dont play better offensively. If we have 4 turnovers I would bet the mortgage we would lose. USC has good kicking game and is improving under interim HC. Defense is still a work in progress but they did some good things against UT.

My comment about our punter hitting a 50+ yd punt that flipped the field was correct...only white players went up to him as he came to the sidelines....why? It was a huge play. Maybe black players slapped him on the back later out of camera range...I hope so. I dont care if our QB, OL, punter or place kicker are white, black or hispanic....has no bearing...but unfortunately I know in the real world there is a lot of hatred out there. Thats a shame.

Offense is all about effeciency, treon can run around and sometimes someone will get open but to be a qb you gotta throw on time and have anticipation.

This is why i hate spread offenses, drives me crazy to see all 11 kids looking to the sidelines if the defense shifts. Shows they have no idea how to adjust on their own and is the reason why most spread QBs fail at the next level. They were never taught coverage recognition, coach did it for them.

There's a lot of cocky (no pun intended) fricks regarding this game here in Columbia.

OL better bring their a game this week. With Bullard and Ivie possibly out the Offense needs to put some points on the board.

Where are these sets with Cyontai Lewis coach kept referencing in pressers that we couldn't do because he was injured? Golsby's production has also nosedived since the Ole Miss game.

Harris can't hit a pass over the middle and it's killing the TE production. We need to get him some high heeled cleats so he can see.
