After careful consideration, I have concluded that the East is fricked.

I don't know why I want to say this so I'll state it as a question. Did it seem like our OL improved?

Btw, the post game presser seemed like Mac wanted to bust out into tears.

Defense has playmakers, seems a new one emerges each week.
Cleveland is a baller
M Davis is gonna be a stud.
Franks will grow from this.
Oline still has work to do.

In all seriousness, there are some positives to take from the game. Franks will probably take on more of a leadership role after this. He, of all people on the field needed that.

I look forward to McElwain not being a giant, blubbering pussy and actually throwing downfield and giving defenses a reason to not stack the box so fricking Davis can peel of huge runs.

My observations: A lot of young players stood out

Marco Wilson is a bonafide SEC cornerback
CJ Henderson will be a great one....still needs snaps
K. Toney has great moves and can make you miss tackles
Malik will be a good one...but has to learn blocking

Others: Team played with energy on a hot muggy day

Defense impressed me after the poor field position we handed them time after time..both teams punters didn't have great games. Of course UT missed FGs, but remember this, WHO held them to FG attempts? The damn defense. The OL played fairly well against a stacked defense that was determined to not let us run. Both Perine and Thompson missed blocks that caused incomplete passes from pressure and this HAS to be corrected. An offense has 11 players and if just one of them miss an assignment, it can ruin plays. A QB needs help and cant win by himself. The RT and center played much better than they did against meatchicken. I would have liked to have seen a few more backup OL play a series to give the biguns some rest on a hot muggy day.

Franks didn't scramble quite as much and of course Cleveland will be scoring more TDs...but I think the coaches have to let Franks throw more deep a few more times during a game. Its hard to say that a few deep plays weren't called and missed blocking blew it up.

Lets hope Duke Dawson is ok. We need him badly.

Looking ahead, LSU & A&M showed they are not elite. Mizzou is horrible, USC lost Deebo Samuels and they don't have a run game. UK and Vandy are tough. UGA is still an unknown quantity, UT is 0-1 in SEC.
UGA has to play Moo State and that should be a good game.

We should definitely just enjoy this one. The East is a shite show. My observations below...

* OL improved from week 1 to week 3, which is encouraging. However, TN's front 7 isn't comparable to Michigan's.

* Feleipe played well for the most part. Very accurate on short throws outside of the one that was a little high that was INT. That ball should have been caught. Also has some ice in his veins which is good to see.

* Skill talent is there... This staff has got to play the young guys at RB/WR more. That's the one gripe I've always had with these guys, they want to play the vets too much despite more talented guys IE Toney, Davis, etc. Play the TALENT NUSS AND MAC, JUST DO IT.

* Chauncey needs to step up or move back to CB. He was awful yesterday in the open field, it was embarrassing. You either want to thump at safety or you don't, and he tackles like Deion. You cannot do that shite at safety. Keep your head up and get in the mix.

* We have some FR CB's folks. Marco and CJ are going to be damn good. Especially when they figure out to turn their heads on time. That comes with comfort. They can cover though and have a knack for the ball.

* Townsend and Pineiro are aces, maybe the best specialist in the country individually, and I would put them against anyone as a unit.

I'm too hungover to comment much

Big thing is the young guys. Toney and Davis need the ball a lot.

Toney
Davis
Cleveland

Those 3 need at LEAST 30-40 combined touches a game.

Again...RB isn't just about running...they HAVE to be able to block or count on a lot of sacks...Thompson and Perine haven't even figured out how to block every passing down yet...let alone a true frosh. Play Davis of course but teams will figure out quickly its going to be a running play if he is only in when we run. The answer might be to have him in when the passes are very safe and on first downs and he doesn't need to block...or is a target.....that's even better.

I don't think anyone wants to see Franks out for the year because of missed blocks. Tight ends did decent on seal blocks on the edge but still a few plays where we just didn't get the job done. Sacks aren't just the result of the OL...TEs and RBs can be the ones responsible.

With a competent OC we beat them by 30. Franks is still learning. Get Davis and Toney the ball. Perine is too slow. Defense held it together. CJ5 and MW3 are ballers. The East has gotten worse somehow

None of the other RB's can block either. Watching Mark Thompson fail at blocking is actually just hilarious at this point, he is so bad at it.

Perine, I just don't know what to think. He looks slow right now. You can't be slow behind this OL.

So if none of your RB can block you might as well play the most explosive guy, which looks like Davis to me.

Toney just needs to touch the ball running and passing as many times as is realistic, similar to percy harvin. Hand it to him, direct snap, quick hitches. ANYTHING. Just get him the ball.

Cleveland is a beast on slants. Keep doing that. They have to respect his deep threat, so he should have space for slants all year. Every now and then throw it deep.

If Callaway comes back, and Scarlett, this offense might actually be legit.

Let's see how they grow this week.

Tennessee's defense was really bad. That being said, they made plays when they had too. The strip at the goal line was just a great individual effort.

UF did end up averaging 6.7 yards per play, which is fantastic. They just had bad things happen a lot. Perine Fumble after a big gain, Davis Fumble after a big gain... They just have to stop fricking up so much.

I think if we can't get our RBs to block...stop making them block. Put them out on a fake screen, put them in the flat. We don't really have the line to have pockets that last forever, so just give the quarterback an outlet.

They are probably the worst blocking halfbacks we've had in forever.

I still can't believe it happened, honestly. We usually don't win games like that, and we've done it twice against Tennessee in The Swamp.

We have such an easy schedule for this year.

One Away game until November after Kentucky.

Vanderbilt, LSU, A&M and Georgia at home (technically for Georgia).

Mizzou is TERRIBLE, and we have them on a road game and then South Carolina on the road -- they'll be done with their season. They just lost their best player --

Then they have to play @A&M, Arkansas, Tenner (they will not beat Tenner), Georgia and Vanderbilt before they play us and Muschamp will be on the chopping block.

UAB and FSU at home to finish out the season and...

We're getting more and more confident on offense. We had four offensive touchdowns, two that were dropped.

The pass into the endzone, and the fumble on the one inch line.

Straw we play A&M in the Swamp...LSU was supposed to be the west road game. A&M is shite, USC has NO run game and lost their MVP on offense, LSU got skull drugged by Moo State...we have Vandy at home also. UK is the game that I worry about and was worried before the season started. We are running into a hornets nest up there.

Get by UK and we will have a very good chance to play in Hotlanta again...even if we lose, we could still be the east champs. UGA will be the only other obstacle.

No one in the east is very good this year so we have a chance to win the east. We still have a good defense and we have more play makers on offense then we have had in a while. If the coaches started doing there jobs then the east would be ours to win if we beat Georgia .

Don't forget that John Kellys stupid taunting penalty after scoring TD cost UT badly and resulted in a score when they had to kick off 15 yds back and Cleveland got a decent return...with field position we opened up some...and scored our first offensive TD.

I agree with the coaches decision to not open up the offense much when we had such shitty field position except for 3 series. You cant have a game changing mistake deep on your side of the field. Lets hope we have better field position for UK. We let Appleby throw a bomb to Cleveland for 99 yds against LSU but after Dawson's pick at the goal line we didn't let Franks do it.

Of course throwing from the end zone is dangerous, a holding call by an OL in the end zone is a safety or grounding the ball etc etc BTW the zebras on Saturday were the same crew that did the UK-EKU game and there were 23 flags in the first half....never saw so many motion flags in my life. They did much better thank God.

The pass to # 80 the TE had too much mustard, but should be caught...Franks will learn to temper his throws as he matures...but I guess its hard not to show off that cannon he has. Most TEs have plywood boards for hands.
