Reasons For Optimism

Hope everyone is doing well....have been busy with fishing tournaments...I know TJ/Finchy miss me
Just thought I would put some optimism out there to show what the future may hold.
As for the game last night...I was shouting from the roof tops that I thought Del Rio should start the season back in August. Some of you posters replied that they would be pissed off if that happened...well...I warned you Franks wasn't ready. He is a talent, but needs the snaps to slowly progress. Last year the coaching staff had to spend a lot of time getting Franks to develop a better throwing motion than the awful wind up he had in high school. It was baby steps....I know that is a fact. He missed two sure TDs that I saw from the comfort of my family/bunker room. He gets tunnel vision. It isn't play calling either...remember how well we did offensively in the first quarter at times? Its because those were the scripted plays...you just cant script the whole game for him. Once he is out there getting signals he gets easily rattled at times. The total lack of converting third downs in the second half doomed us.
But he isn't the only issue. The freaking special teams has gone to hell in a basket. # 32 was inserted as kickoff return man and that was true frosh Lemmons....3 yds deep and 2 yds deep he brings it out. Fortunately...he broke tackle at the 11 yd line or we would have had horrible field position...but the other return was out to the 15 yd line. When we got our last kickoff he stayed put, so someone told him something. If anyone cares to review game film you will see the bad field position we had way too often to start drives with. Fast Eddie kicks off out of bounds and they start at the 35 leading to a score. Special teams is ignored by many but its crucial.
Back to original subject I am putting a list together of who we have returning in 2018...Mac will be our HC and this will be the year he has to show that we can field a MUCH better offense. Now, I tried to avoid the suspended players...since I don't know their status eventually....but if 8 or 9 return then we have even more depth. If I mistakenly listed a suspended player, then I apologize...hard to keep up and I'm too busy to research.
QB Franks, Del Rio, Trask, Allen
RB Perine, Davis, Lemons (need some recruits)
WR Cleveland, Hammond, Swain, Massey, Daquan Green
OL Ivey? Buchanan, Harkless, Heggie, Forsythe, Fred Johnson, Jordan, Mc Coy, Andrew Mike, TJ Moore, Juwan Taylor, Telfort
DL Ancrum,Bryan, Kyree Campbell, Zach Carter, K. Clark, Clayton, Conliffe, K Davis, CeCe Jefferson? Polite, Zuniga
(didn't list Slaton since I'm sure if he will be OL/DL?)
LB Reese, Joseph, K Johnson, Moon (we don't use many LBs but need some recruits obviously)
DB Shawn Davis, Brian Edwards, C. Gardner, Marcell Harris (I list him as I'm sure he will be awarded six year) CJ Henderson, Q. Lenton, CJ McWilliams, MacArthur Burnett, Brad Stewart, Stiner, Jeawon Taylor, Marco Wilson
Plus any true frosh we recruit will add to the list of course.
Townsends brother Tommy will be our punter and Fast Eddie returns. We need MUCH better return yardage on kicks and punts...we usually cover well but block no one on returns.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Special teams has been a disaster every year of the Mac regime outside of Callaway making big plays as a freshman, and the kickers, and even they make a lot of mistakes if you listen to the coaches talk about it. Eddy and Johnny have both made mistakes that have ultimately cost Florida games the last couple of weeks, the coverage teams are shite, and the return game is LAUGHABLY bad. THIS IS A HORRIBLY COACHED PART OF THE TEAM AND IT SHOWS ON THE FIELD.
Defense is improving and showing signs of being decent this year and back to being good again next year. That being said, tackling on this team is only so-so, the talent at LB, especially as it relates to moving sideline to sideline is far below what we are used to seeing, and the situational awareness again shows that coaching could be a bit better.
Offense... lol. UF finally found some RBs and the OL is better than it has been, the WR corp is still only so-so outside of 1 or 2 guys. Bottom line, this staff has not been able to identify, recruit, and develop a QB. It's been 3 years. I don't see why that will magically change next year.

Motherfrickin’ this!

And if it doesn't...then Mac will be gone....but he will be here in 2018, get four years and I think we will be loaded with experience in 2018 with probably 18-19 starters on offense and defense returning.

Cult.
''He hasn't developed a QB in three years when he's only completed two years. Goddamn failure.''
Now we have the highest rated recruit at QB we've had since Driskel, a ferocious running back, the best WR corps in a decade coming in next year.

Driskel did fine in another system, even made it to the NFL. Del Rio looked serviceable after year, no reason to think a kid with the raw talent that Corral has, plus the vision can't be successful.

Its so plain and simple...my thread is merely meant to show reasons for optimism...we are just about returning EVERYBODY on offense and defense. Experience begets success.
UGA has a senior/junior laden defense that Smart inherited for the most part....just as Meyer inherited an upperclassmen defense from Zook. In 2006 Zooks senior heavy defense won the BCS title.

Reasons for optimism: less than a year til Mac is gone.

Other than the improvement in every recruiting class, the hiring of better assistants to replace the ones before, being able to plan in the offseason knowing that you won't have two central points of focus on offense, another year of competition and (hopefully) better quarterback development and playcalling, and the influx of solid experienced returning players and an elite recruiting class....
I'm pissed and hope the team sucks and Mac gets fired. I don't know how you do it TJ, you make the negativity look so easy. Maybe next season you'll be right and Mac will be fired. If you say it every year that he'll be gone next year, maybe eventually you'll be right.

I think your missing the second best WR . Toney? The offense should be very good next year . If it’s not great there will be a lot of heartache for some of the fans .
Posted on 10/20/17 at 6:27 am to tjv305
tjv you're right, I forgot Toney and remember this list excludes almost all of the suspended players that I could remember...if most of them returned...then the numbers would be staggering.
To have 18-19 starters back is high cotton when you look at the experience level and snaps they have taken.

Hiring better assistants. Lulz. Game planning lulz. An elite class. Bahahahaha

You are a sad, pathetic little man

Ive never seen so many "fans" root for their team to fail so they can say they were right about a HC rather than root for the teams success and may have to admit they were wrong.

Rooting for the team to fail and knowing it will fail are two different things. It's no surprise you can't tell the difference.

Im not the one trying to sell a shite sandwich likes its nutella. That's what you Macinites are trying to do with your fanboy obsession with trying to prove he's a great coach. He's not we've proven why.
