Listen, I'm more in the middle than most of the people you argue with here, but 2011 was a potentially good team with the right coach.

John Brantley was mis-used as a QB in 2010, but was a plenty talented QB to start with, and they also recruiting Jacoby Brisset and Jeff Driskel that year, two more very talented back ups.

The RB rotation included Chris Rainey, a guy that ended up with like 4000 yards of total offense and 25 TD in his career, Jeff Demps had 3000 yards and 24 TD. They also had Mike Gilislee as a back up who might have been the best all around RB on UF's roster since 2003.

The offensive line was a bit young in 2011, (nothing like 2015-2016) but it contained some really strong players, including Jonathan Harrison, James Wilson, Jon Halapio, Chaz Green, Matt Patchan, Kyle Koehne, and Xavier Nixon. The roster had a ton of guys on it, and 11 guys played a lot of snaps during the year. In contrast, McElwain arrived to 6 healthy OL in 2015. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE.

UF also had Trey Burton and Jordan Reed on offense that could run and catch. Both players are in the NFL right now. And although the WR corp wasn't anything special, Deonte Thompson, Quinton Dunbar, and Frankie Hammond have all spent time in the NFL, and Ommarius Hines was not a bad player either. That corp was definitely better than what McElwain walked in to in 2015.

UF also had one of the best kickers they have ever had in Caleb Sturgis. Mac arrived to fricking nothing at that position as well.

Perspective

Also, I don't think the majority of complaints about Mac have to do with current on field play (the Nuss issues and inability to beat good teams are basically the only two I can think of) but rather what people see happening in 2017 where Mac's recruiting short falls could hit home rapidly.

and maybe Kelvin Taylor.

This massively undersells Taylor- hell you could make a decent case that of skill position talent is worse this year than it was in 2014 or 2015- (not to mention our offense was probably better in 2014).

Kelvin Taylor and Demarcus Robinson were the only good offensive players that were ready to contribute on this team when Mac arrived. Goolsby maybe if you want to stretch it a bit.

You had guys like Brandon Powell in the wings, who has been decent in his role, but far from exceptional.

If Mac had not brought in Callaway and Mcgee in 2015 UF would have been totally fricked on offense even more than they were with that OL situation.

McGee was good and Powell is decent as a slot/3rd Down back

Am I misremembering it- I thought McGee came in under Boom and I want to say broke his leg on the first play from scrimmage in 2014?

Good catch - I totally forgot he came in during 2014. You are right, he was injured instantly and missed the season.

So OK - to be fair, McGee, Powell, Robinson, and Taylor. That is what Mac had.

But the offensive line thing isn't even a discussion.
