If uf somehow recovers and wins a bunch of games it might be the most awesome and surprising turnaround in recent memory.

e sounded to me like a guy that had been up for about 48 hours with minimal sleep, had no power in his own home up until a few minutes before the press conference, had the responsibility of ensuring the safety of 100+ players, his entire staff, grad assistants, trainers, and all of their families, and had a huge football game coming up on Saturday.

Yeah, he sounded exhausted. Understandably so. I'm going to cut him some slack for seeming a little tired during a Wednesday press conference. I'll have less "slack" for him on Saturday, especially with a loss or bad performance, but Jesus Christ, cut him some slack today.

Yeah, you know what I love to do with minimal preparation for a Tennessee team because my entire state was wrecked by a hurricane?

I just love giving thirty minute press conferences to go over shite that almost everyone knew already. Nothin' beats having to go get ready for a bunch of bad questions when all you want to do is coach your team up but ya can't because you're too busy fielding questions.

This is probably the ultimate, last thing on his mind after Michigan, the hurricane, suspensions etc. Poor frickin' dude.

And acknowledging he has a reason to be exhausted and giving him a pass for not bringing energy to a press conference is "excuses". Give me a fricking break

And I will eat my words and own it if that's the case.

I have supported McElwain strongly on here.

But the last few weeks have been pathetic.

I will give him a pass for today because the whole state is trying to recover.

I wouldn't be surprised if we laid an egg this week. It's almost impossible to get the players up for this game. Too many distractions and the kids will most likely be fatigued and flat. Everyone thought the Texans would by hyped for their NFL game and that they would come out and win one for the city after Harvey but they ran into a buzz saw.

While it would be great for us to pull out a win, my expectations are very low this week, after knowing what we just went through here in Houston. I think they will go on after this game and have a lot of success. So I wouldn't try to crucify Mac for what is an impossible situation.

The excuses for a loss to UT have begun. MAYBE HE SHOULD ACT LIKE THIS GAME IS A MOMENT TO HELP FLORIDA HEAL. TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO STEP AWAY FROM THEIR PROBLEMS FOR 3 HOURS. TO SHOW SOME ENERGY THAT THIS GAME RIGHT HERE IS THE FIRST STEP IN HEALING FOR THIS STAFF, UNIVERSITY, TEAM AND STATE. THAT EVEN THOUGH A HURRICANE MAY DESTROY OUR HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND IN SOME CASES FAMILY IT WILL NOT DESTROY OUR DETERMINATION TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS NOT JUST FOR US BUT FOR ALL OF GATORNATION. ADVERSITY IS A PART OF LIFE AND NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR GREAT IT IS WE WILL FACE IT HEAD ON AND OVERCOME IT NOT JUST AS A FOOTBALL TEAM, UNIVERSITY OR COMMUNITY BUT AS A FAMILY. BECAUSE GATORS TAKE CARE OF GATORS.

He said that, TJ. All of that. did you actually watch it?

Also, they're frickin' kids, bro. They don't owe us shite. I wouldn't give a frick if they forfeitted the game if some of them had to take care of their kin. I love Florida, and he's doing what he can with what he has.

He didn't say half that. I watched that depressing shite and it made me want to slit my wrists. No energy, No passion. It was like a funeral. Where did I say the players owe US anything? Quote me. Mac himself said everyone was ok. He owes it to the players and fans to put on a show. We've averaged 10 points a game on offense the last 8 games. I said it's an opportunity to help the state heal since the fricking game will be played. Forfeit?!?? Wtf!! You have Mac's loser mentality. If the colonies had your mentality after the losing so many battles the US never would've been formed. Hey Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin we got some guys dead over here. Let's pack this shite up and beg the crown for forgiveness. Did they do that? No. They shoved the jeweled studded crown right up the kings arse and formed America(For white rich dudes for a hundred plus years anyway). Champions frick the prom queen. Losers frick their hand. We aren't losers Straw, we're Champions. It's time the HC acts like one.

I will say this, consider the month he has had:

Loses 10 players to suspension before the biggest opening game at Florida in 30 years.

The unit on his team he considered a strength, the OL, lays an egg on opening day.

After a terrible loss, his coaching and coaching staff come under intense fire from national and local levels.

The fan base turns on him.

He loses the Northern Colorado game, a game he probably REALLY wanted to play.

He loses his starting TE to injury, and reports it at a press conference before telling him. Looks bad.

A hurricane comes to Florida and causes him to miss 3 days of Practice before his first SEC game against a team that beat him last year.

He spends countless hours keeping track of his kids and their families during the hurricane.

Given all of that, I'm sure he's down, and tired, and worried.

The problem though, is that you'd like the public face of your football program to be a bit more upbeat at press conferences. It was humiliating the way he was this week. He has to do better than that. You don't get paid 4 mil a year to act like that in public. It's an unfair standard but it is what it is. When you represent an entire university and team, you just have to do better.

I'm all about being pissed but turning every thread into a shitshow of complaining and whining is terrible. Sorry guys.

There are some people on this board that claim to be Gator fans that are not. Either that or they are the worse bandwagon fans in the history of sports. These folks, and they know who they are, love to use every opportunity to down the program, the coaches and the players. They turn every thread into a shitshow and that is why I have challenged any of them on this board to a ban bet for the UF / UT game, but so far no takers, go figure. I will win either way because win or lose, I won't have to see their crap for the rest of the season.
Go Gators, beat Tennessee!

I hate this cop out.

If you can't handle the negativity, start a different thread about how good things are.

If people weren't complaining at this point, I would be worried.

There is a difference between complaining and not being a fan. Trust me... our opponents aren't complaining at all...

Let's get this fricking shite out of the way. I'm a gator who watched as SOS built this program from nothing and Meyer took it to heights that could only match him. Watched as Foley, let Zook, WM and now Mac shite all over this program enabled by foleys ego and incompetence. Not once have I blasted the program. Jeremy Foley? You're damn right because he created this mess. Zook, WM? Yep. LDR who bet your arse. The other is Mac. Just the coach the one you'd take a fricking bullet for who doesn't know your name or give a shite about while he wipes his arse with millions. Who can't put together a sentence without and yet or some dumb saying. I'm not going to apologize for seeing Mac for what he is. A farce who has no business wearing the Orange and blue or any idea how to lead a major program. It's not my fault you refuse to see it or don't expect more from the man who took over the most prestigious job in the country. That's your problem. You don't define fandom. You can die on the hill with Mac and Nuss but I will not. You're insane. You expect a different result without changing anything. Mac chose Nuss over the well fair of the program despite the offense sucking 3 years now if anyone is not a fan it's him. Its Just a job he's happy to have that's pretty cool and yet he doesn't know Wtf to do. I'll cheer on this team til I die. I refuse to cheer on a coach who takes me for a fool while expecting me to swallow his aw shuck shite while stealing money. Have you gotten the ROI from Florida football? Is This what we now claim as success with pride? Blowout losses, no adjustments and no offense are the measure of the Gators or is it kicking the shite out of FSU and the SEC like cheap whores who bit our cock? We have expectations here and If you want to join Mac on the next plane out be my guest. I'll be waiting for the new HC that will lead this team to glory.

10 PPG on offense the last 8 games

0 TDs in 3 of last 7 games

3-8 vs the top 25

In the 100's each year in offense.

Finished behind WM in offense.

No TDs vs FSU 2 years in a row on offense.

Is this success?
Foley managed to hire a worse coach than WM.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

Nice rant, but you are the most negative so called Gator poster on this site. Fans like you are a cancer to a program. If we win by 6 Saturday, you will say we should have won by 14. By the way, I watched Ray Graves build the program, Doug Dickey set it back for years, Charlie Pell build it again, all before Spurrier took over. Younger fans like you just think you change coaches and that fixes the problem immediately but that isn't always true. Sometimes, it takes a coach a while to build a program and fans need to be patient and give him a chance, or you can be a cancer and destroy the program from within. I know which type you are, thanks and have a good day!

I agree with this to a degree. But Spurrier didn't make this school a program that needed to be built. He had already done it. He had set the expectations of the school's capabilities for decades after his reign.

Now with that being said, any coach after him should be "maintaining" those expectations. Meyer fricked everything up with his health problems, sure. The offense collapsed through Muschamp and Mac was hired to fix it. Since 2015, there has not been any improvement in the offense except for when Grier was playing. And that's on Mac, no one else. He's either handcuffing the OC and the players or he's just not capable of correcting it. One or the other.

2 years and 1 game, 19 wins, 2 division championships. He at least deserves 4 years before we pass judgement.
If we don't see improvement by then, I will jump ship.
Until then, Go Gators!

I've got a serious question. Have you seen any kind of improvement on offense? Any? Anything that trends up?

Matt - I don't agree with you that just because someone does not have faith in a coach that they are a cancer to the program. This is a discussion board. We all discuss and express our thoughts. We're all Gators and we all want to win. That's the name of the game. A few posters complaining about the product on the field has zero bearing on the direction of the program. That is all on the coaches. None of us here can destroy UF football and certainly not from within. That is on the coaches.

How much time is enough time for a coach? I personally look at if the program is heading in the right direction. I really don't care how many SECe titles won because they mean nothing in the dumpster fire called the SECe. As each season has progressed, Gator football got worst under Mac. I'm hoping he turns it around this year but I have had concerns from the first year. I haven't seen any improvement on offense and the defense may even take a step back this year. I hope not but it appears that way. The biggest concern for me is recruiting. If Mac is sitting in your living room as a recruit. Would you want to follow him or the many other coaches out there? His Gomer Pyle, gosh geesh personality would be a turn off to me.

I blame Foley. He keeps trying to find lightning in a bottle when he should have hired a sure thing. We do not need a coach learning on the job here at UF. We need a proven winner that will lift the expectations of the fans, players and coaches. I hope it's Mac but I really don't think so. I think he deserves a pass for this game but he should be on the hot seat the rest of the season imo.
