Is there a link to a story about this? Or is it a random OL at ND that is transferring?

C'mon Reel. You're usually on top of things
Heres a LINK

He's transferring, will be eligible this year as a graduate, and has not decided what FBS school he wants to go to

ETA: He's originally from New Mexico, and was offered by FSU but NOT UF 4 years ago. I can't find anything about a connection to UF. Where is that rumor coming from?

Right now, there isn't any substance to this.

exactly, he could surely be an asset. Don't see why we wouldn't at least show some interest.

Haven't heard anything but I was wondering... how in the hell did your oline get in the mess it's in to begin with? I know why ours is the way it is (Dooley recruited zero linemen despite knowing he had a team that could leave their junior and certainly would leave senior years - he knew the issue was coming and didn't do a damn thing about it) but with UF, I don't understand the OL mess. How did it get this way?

Thurman's hurt now Johnsons out with injury LINK
Humphries left early even though I think one more year could have really helped him prepare for the league, add that to a poor recruiting cycle for OL (No thanks to CWM )

We have 6 scholarship lineman right now healthy. None of them have ever started.

At least that number of scholarship linemen will double in the fall.

True, but the lack of experience absolutely scares me. Really Trip Thurman is the only one I trust to be a baller this fall, but who knows what his health will be like.

I feel more confident in Sharpe than Thurman. Just going by what I saw last year. I thought line was better when Sharpe was playing instead of Humphries

It should. Our oline was completely new last year and there was zero experience on it. They progressed at the end of the year but it was an absolute bloodbath for most of the season. You may be in a better situation than we were but a rebuilt oline isn't fun at all to work with.

Hell, even though I know our line will improve some this year, it still scares me to death. Because even an improved line could still be a bad one given how awful they were.

Prof: ? Are you kidding me? We had plenty of experience at OL last year...Max Garcia? Chaz Green? Halapio? Come on man...all three of those players have chance to make NFL roster...Tyler Moore started 1 yr at Nebraska The big kid from UGA (and JUCO) might even make a team. There were FIVE OL at Pro Day dude. We have Sharpe and Thurman right now but we do have some guys like Andrew Mike who redshirted that will help us.

I heard that transfers can come on campus if they are eligble seniors and play for us this year...I don't know the cutoff date but Im sure our staff has the waiver wire humming.

I was talking about UT's oline being dreadful last year and how rebuilding an oline is always scary proposition.

Sorry my bad...dementia hits every now and then. I agree UT has had a lot of youth at OL and the talent at DL a little suspect except for the few frosh not ready to play yet. Butch has recruited extremely well....the question will be how patient are the UT fans? If he has 6-6 7-5 type years back to back...will they tolerate it? I think he has UT on the path with recruiting, but don't know enough to declare them SEC east winners...but it could happen this year even... it is a tossup in the east.

It's all good.

I think our OL is still shaky but will be improved (can't really be worse when you're at the bottom of all of CFB). The DL isn't as young as everyone thinks (on the entire defense we only lost AJ at MLB and Jordan Williams at DT everyone else returns) but the guys we've been talking about most are (McKenzie and Tuttle) but we return all but one DT and for the first time in ages actually have a 4 deep across the DL and a quality one at that. Contrast that to last year when we had a total of 5 healthy DTs to rotate and having 5 healthy ones was an improvement. So I feel better about the DL than ever but I don't feel good about the OL (they have to prove it before they get any vote of confidence). We have some good guys we've brought in for the OL but they are true froshies so I doubt they'll be much help on the OL.

I don't think we're SEC winners yet and tbh, most of us will be happy with 8-9 wins. We're at least a year away, imo. A 7 or 6 win season with the talent we have would be bad as far as the fan base goes but Butch has a lot of good will and injuries could play a role in a season like that. We have the talent in the starting positions and depth at a few positions but we don't have depth across the board yet.
