LSU's Offense

This is going to be a little controversial among LSU fans but here goes.

Summary: A decent offense unless Fournette is shut down.

Strengths:

1. Rush offense, this is the most obvious. Outside of a few people who are jealous, Fournette is the best back in college football right now, and honestly, for a long time. Playing behind a bad offensive line, he still seems to make plays happen.

2. Pass offense, a little bit of a surprise. Etling gives LSU a different dynamic in that he can actually make some good plays, and has the arm to go downfield.

Weaknesses:

1. Offensive line is not that good in any respect and is obviously suffering growing pains.

2. If Fournette isn't picking up yards, they are not going to win by passing. Etling is better, and may even have a very fantastic future at LSU but they can't rely on him solely to win the game with his arm.

2A. Guice is not in the same league as Fournette, and from what I've seen he's more explosive but not as consistent.

Defense

Strengths

1. Good pass rush. They were harassing almost the entire night against Arkansas making Allen play poorly. He obviously heard the footsteps (although he seemed to have an awful night anyway) and was making careless plays.

2. Good defensive playcalling. This has picked up by lightyears since Miles left. They seem to be pretty good, but there are still some really bonehead mental mistakes going on in the secondary.

Weaknesses

1. Mistakes (as foreshadowed) are killing LSU in the secondary. Arkansas' sole movement came from LSU dbacks just making poor decisions. They beat themselves more than Arkansas did.

2. Conditioning. The dline of LSU is ferocious, but when they're tired there is a massive dropoff in pressuring the quarterback. Long drives will hurt this defense.

X-Factors

For LSU:

If their running game is clicking, we have no chance.

For Florida:

Eddie. I don't even need to put his surname, he is, likely, our only chance to win this game along with stout defensive play and field position.

Prediction:

LSU wins convincingly. (10 - 16)

LSU wins a close one. (1 - 6)

Florida wins a close one. (1 - 6)

LSU wins by blowout. (17+)

Florida wins convincingly. (10 - 16)

Florida wins by blowout. (17+)

If Del Rio is our quarterback, we have no chance. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Slot-receiver playing quarterback Treon, or balling clutching the game against Tennessee Treon?

Treon balled out against LSU last year though. Probably the best game of his career.

Guice's filthy with the ball. He ran for more yards and scored more points against arkansas than our whole offense. They won't have to pass as our DL is banged up and we couldn't stop the run vs UT, Arky or even mizzou.

Just win, Baby. Margin of victory doesn't matter.

Go Gators, beat LSUcks

Guice is playing after the opposing team basically has its spirits crushed by Fournette.

Guice didn't do dick for about 2.5 quarters in the Arkansas game.

First drive: 6 yards on 3 rushes.

Second: 7 on 1.

Third: Didn't play.

Fourth: 17 on 3. (At this point he's averaging 4.2 yards while Fournette is averaging 8.)

He would not touch the ball for a whole four drives afterwards aside from one 3 yard carry.

(This is when the dam opens.)

Second half:

Gains of 38 and 15 after Fournette averages 10+ per carry.

Punt, punt. 7 minute drive for a field goal.

The LSU offense could not score a touchdown with Guice as the leading running back for this drive.

And then, when the game didn't matter and was out of reach Guice got a 96 yard run.

First half:

About 50 yards on 11 carries.

Second half:

About 200 yards on 10 carries.

I'm not saying Guice isn't good, but what I am saying is that he doesn't do well if Fournette doesn't absolutely wear down the defense, and then Guice comes in to mop it up because he is a natural talent for speed.

However, he got absolutely smothered and stuffed in the first half and couldn't power it in on their longer drives.

Look at the Ole Miss game, too.

Leonard Fournette 16 284 17.8
Derrius Guice 16 57 3.6

He is just not in the same league when it comes to rushing as Fournette. They will suffer a dropoff next year.

Things I was right about:

Eddie. 9 points total, he's gonna win more games for us.

LSU's Secondary.

Guice.

I was also correct about their pass offense and offensive line.

I predicted, almost, everything succesfully except the score but I usually consider my prediction a success if I get at least one of the top three in there.

I'll be watching FSU very soon, and there's a whole bunch of tape to go off of.

Go Gators.

Also, I recognize I'm talking to myself in this thread, but I'm still giving myself a pat on the back.

I was posting pregame on the Rant about how the tigah posters should be careful spewing shite about us....that the Gators held the advantage of emotions. Being told that they were skeered to play LSU, being pussies and that our AD schemed to have the game cancelled was enough to make water boil.

Gators never waivered...even though the tigahs scored first and the crowd got a little loud...we hung in there and after the 98 yd TD pass the house went quiet and the purple & gold could already see how tight a game it would be.

I think the turning point was Caleb Brantleys strip of the ball inside our 15 yd line when the tigahs were ready to score and a TD would have made it 14-3 and would have really fired up the crowd.

Then you had true frosh LB (#11) Vosean Joseph hit Eitling with a smackdown out of bounds at the 1 yd line...we hit them with a tackle for loss and forced them into a botched FG...the turning point that completely sealed their fate. The other turning point was the fumble on the return by them that resulted in another Fast Eddie FG and kept them from tieing the game with a FG...which they would have probably gone for with fourth down and 1 yd.

Talk about a good coaching job...everything they did we countered with a move of our own and finally checkmate!
The only play I didnt like was the called reverse after we had pounded them to mush and were inside the 10 yd line and got stopped for a loss...but still kicked a FG, but a TD would have made the score 17-7 at the time as I recalled.

I agree, I hate when teams try to get cute in the RZ. Other than that
