The offense has 20 more yards than the entire Vanderbilt game.
3 less first downs. (12 vs. 15)
EDIT: We've also converted one less first down than. (5 vs. 6)
Furthermore, it's only half-time.
One year away, gents.

Lol. He's looked awful this game. This game looks just like LSUs game against Missouri

Appleby was his QB. Treon and Will were WM QBs. He's 5-1 with his QBs and they have been average for a QB guru.

The fifth year senior transfer who was only there to add depth to an underrecruited quarterback position?

Will was on Steroids and Treon was awful.
What exactly is your point other than we haven't had a quarterback?
Mine is that we've doubled production, quadrupled points and looked to move the ball pretty well.
We beat Vandy on the road with a second string quarterback, Georgia lost to Vandy at home.

You're selectively choosing Mac's actual record. Mac chose Appleby. Did Urban Meyer's NC team at UF not count because Leak wasn't his QB?

Lets stop bickering guys. I agree with both of you....1) I think LDR has limitations as a QB because of arm strength and velocity. Timing wasnt the only problem with LDRs play today...the long passes downfield were ALL underthrown and I dare add thrown late.
The rust and timing can be resolved....but arm strength is not fixable.
But LDR can be very effective at short to intermediate routes and he shouldnt throw long. Our main problem is OL and it is perplexing to say the least. UT has two SEC losses but we will have three if we dont correct the OL and get them to block better and get our ground game going.
While Straw will tell you its Booms fault that the OL was a mess...its only partially true. Urbs started it just before he left by recruiting 2 OL in a year twice. Boom did the smart thing in 2011 by recruiting a defense that completely turned it around in 2012 and we went 11-1. He did recruit some OL that didnt pan out and one was a highly recruited OG who stole a freaking scooter and was kicked off the team.
Mac has done a good job at one thing recruiting that I like...he has convinced players to transfer here and he has also recruited some damn good JUCO prospects. Those things dont always show up in recruiting rankings which I could care less about. Its his second year and he took sewer water and made lemonade last year....so you have to feel good about that. He has a laid back demeanor and that can fool you...as Im sure the competitive spirit runs deep. Right now we are 5-1 and maybe not pretty, but we aint bad either.

We're just a QB away from being close to being a NC contender again

I'm not making the case that LDR is even an above average quarterback -- I'm saying that with a decent quarterback we can hang with anyone. We don't lose the Tennessee game with Del Rio in the game -- he simply hits the short to intermediate routes way, way better.
I think the problem comes from trying to force him into something he's not adept at. He clearly cannot hit the deep ball, or we don't disguise it well enough.
Things he can do: Hit long-developing intermediate routes like the one to Gools. I haven't actually seen a play like that for...I don't know how long.
We also had tons of first downs because of his arm.
Team looks completely different on offense and defense when we can actually make first downs, and that's all I'm saying.
TJ and I agree on something, though: We're a quarterback away from being in the talk of contenders.

It's mostly to almost totally true. Muschamp had like two offensive lineman a class, you can't live on that. If he knew he was thin at line, he had two years to correct it and he still took in and turned over a laughable 9 linemen, almost none upperclassmen.
In contrast, teams like Alabama have 22. Almost all of Muschamp's failures were his own, and South Carolina is showing us that much.

Straw...dont base Boom on his first year at USC...talk about inheriting an empty cupboard. Spurrier had stopped recruiting and it shows. Give Muschamp two more years and see what he has.
Lets leave it at that. Its over, Mac is our HC and thats looking in the rearview mirror.

LDR's timing was off badly yesterday. He was late on everything.

Yeah but we also moved the ball pretty consistently.

I think he gets better after having a few weeks off. He threw some nice balls, two that stand out, 3rd down out to Powell where he got crushed and 3rd down throw to Tyrie between 2 defenders. He threw a nice deep ball to Tyrie, he needs to throw the deep stuff sooner.

He's improving, but I also think Missouri actually has a decent defense -- but they suffer from what we did a few years ago.
The defense is absolutely amazing, but the offense can't get first downs and it just wears them down.
Didn't take them almost all the way until the end of the second quarter to get their first first down?
I'm not saying LDR doesn't have some kinks to work out, but that defense is no joke. They're fast, they make plays and they were all over the place that game.
With LDR: One more year and he's going to be pretty good. Well, at least better than what we've had.
We'd be crushing everyone if Grier was still here.

I will say this....LDR hasnt the arm to throw long deep passes...once in a while if he has plenty of protection he can wind up and put his body into a throw....but how often do we ever have the time for that?
Wuerffel had a so so arm and floated balls...but he was deadly accurate and had the benefit of Spurrier as a HC and WRs who made him look even better.
If you watch video of the Mizzou game you will see how stacked they were to the line and didnt respect the threat of a long pass...partly because their defense has a fierce pass rush and partly because they scouted us well. Our defense/special teams put up 21 points and set us up several times. We cannot turn the ball over 5 times and beat either Arkie or LSU or the girls school.
We need our defense to play like men possessed against those three teams to stand a good chance. Just got to have offense make a few first downs and keep the D rested somewhat.....the defense will force mistakes.

I think Grier is gonna ball out next yr at WVU

I've always been high on Grier, he's just got it. He's got the reaction speed, he's got the poise and he's just got the luck.
I hope to God he doesn't go to WVU and turn that program around, but I understand why Mac had to part ways.
If he gets popped again, even by accident, he's done.

I liked Grier, i hope he does well. Perfect spot for him imo.
But like you said at UF, the damage was done. I totally understand Mac parting ways. Look what the team suffered through because of him.

The problem is, too: Guys have the chance to start young. Luke Del Rio is not a sure bet. Some new blood could come in and immediately start or at the very least climb up the roster right quick.
If Grier is there, don't even think about playing for the next two years -- because I don't think there's a recruit in the country who plays like he does.
Wish him all the luck, but if we sacrificed to let him play and he burnt us again, we'd be completely up shite creek with no paddle. The gamble just isn't worth it.
