I don't disagree with being fiscally responsible, but there is a middleground between where Foley was and the Bama/Oregon/TAMU level of oppulence. I also found this article that shows stats that ilustrate the correllation between football success and increased applicants

It's sales. You're selling an experience. You have to present the best product that looks great otherwise who would want it? UF football is a business and the athletes are employees it's no different than any other industry. Look at Google for instance.

With free gourmet cafeterias, massage rooms, nap pods, haircuts and onsite doctors available for employee checkups (free of charge), Google is trying its best to keep employees happy. Here are the perks that contribute to the happiness of Googlers, and, in turn, Google's success

People want to feel appreciated. Instead of getting money these guys get a half assed degree because they're funneled into sociology, sports management or community services. So all they have left is the experience outside of football or class. The lounges, arcades, laser tag allow them to relax. So long as Disney is writing $30M checks and boosters pay millions you'll have an arms race. News flash you're not an athlete looking for the best situation to get the the NFL, and a lot has changed. So your pov will be extremely different than Alex Leatherwood.

Let's not use Google as some sort of model here. Google is a shady, shady, company. I don't want my alma mater emulating anything at all from Google.
