Stay safe guys. Moved out of Florida a few years ago after finishing school, but I still know a lot of people down there.

Hope you guys take care. shite looks like might be as bad as Katrina or Ivan.

This thing looks absolutely awful. I have family in Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. I don't think any of those places are safe.

I'm still dealing with water after Harvey here in Houston.

Has anyone heard anything about the CFB games this weekend? I know TB/Miami are either cancelling or moving their game but I haven't heard anything about college games. For some reason, I don't see how UF can play Saturday night? That storm looks like it's coming straight up central Florida.

This thing is the real deal. Everyone in Florida should be preparing, because this damn thing may demolish south Florida and then turn right around in the gulf and hit us again in the north. This kind of storm, you're talking power outages and such - so make sure you stock up on some food, water, batteries, meds if you need them, etc. Do it now, don't wait. Gainesville was completely out of bottled water today and it may not even hit here unless it does the full loop.

The media pounds the drums because it sells...Saturday night in the Swamp is going to be fine...its fricking 1500 miles away and 2 systems could make this storm go 100 different ways....meanwhile gas stations are gouging everyone.

The real scoop is early Monday before it gets here...if it ever does and the real weather forecasters will tell us by Friday how its looking and it not be until Saturday before they know the true path.

Oh...an yes there will be people wetting their pants prematurely and will be on the road Saturday...screw it play the damn game.

I have friends and family around the Gulf from Houston to Miami. I feel like no matter what, some of them are about to suffer a great loss, and it sucks. Not that I am special in that, but I sympathize with the rest of you. I hope everyone makes it out OK wherever they are, and if you are in the way, please stay safe.

I lived in Texas for years and have good friends in Houston, so seeing this right after Harvey... rough summer for a lot of good folks out there.

Man, I have to disagree. This thing will be in the straights Friday, and it is a stone cold motherfricker, excuse my French.

My mother lost her home in Katrina, and my uncle damn near lost his. I was down there two weeks later helping them pick up the pieces, and I can't tell you how thankful I am they listened to me and got out the Thursday before Monday, August 29 when the storm hit. Those who waited until Saturday were pretty well screwed. And it weakened considerably before it made landfall.

Sure, it may end up perfectly fine in Gainesville game day, and all over Florida. But if things continue as is, rolling the dice on what at the moment might be the most powerful hurricane to ever hit the US vs missing a tune-up game, or at least playing it a day early, is madness.

The game should be moved to a noon start and played. This will give everyone a few more hours to travel home before the estimated impact on the region.

Yes....moving it to noon or moving game to Jax at noon, anything but cancelling it. We are going to have this crap every year and games cant be made up as in years past because of the SECCG....it has to be squeezed in or not played. Both suck....and cost UF millions.

I wonder how fricking much $$ we had to pay No Col to NOT play us? Last year we had to pay Presbyetrian. It will continue every year without a solid contingency plan...which our Athletic Dept obviously doesn't have.

We just lost millions...at this rate three more hurricanes and we will be broke.

I don't know why it's not a set contingency plan that we tell every opponent of ours that in the event of a hurricane or lightning storm that we will play on Friday or Sunday depending upon the situation. It's maddening that UCF can a move a game to Friday and UF can't.

Well I forgot that UF has insurance policy that pays $$$$$$$$$$$ when a game is cancelled or cant be played.

The poor venders (about 1300 of them) don't have that insurance and need the games to put food on the table for their family.

UF has to be more intelligent...Sept/early Oct is hurricane season....did they not get the damn memo??
Have a real plan that works and cause the least worries for fans....Fri/Sun alternates is sound. I fish in tournaments when the weather is really bad it is cancelled til the next day or week....I realize its far different than a UF gameday but God Almighty play the game somewhere somehow.

With all due respect, frick anyone thinking this way. There is a fricking hurricane the size of Texas coming directly through the state of Florida. It has shut down the entire state of Florida and caused more than half of the population to evacuate to other states, including myself and my entire family. Yes I would love for us to play this weekend in a neutral site game because our team needs the reps. But no, i don't give a flying frick about the pay out that Florida lost by making the right decision to not play this game in Gainesville on Saturday. Lives are about to be lost. Entire islands that people once lived on are becoming uninhabitable. It's impossible to even process what this storm can do. Please, don't be ridiculous. we're talking about a football game when the biggest storm that will ever hit the state of Florida is bearing down on us. The game doesn't matter right now.
