Florida Secondary Depth Chart

With the news today that Marcel harris is out for the year and Chris Williamson is transferring, the depth chart has unfortunately cleared up a bit.
I think for sure this means that Chauncey Gardner is moving back to Safety. So the safety depth chart is now presumably:
S: Chauncey Gardner, Jaewon Taylor
S: Nick Washington, Jaewon Taylor
Most people think Jaewon Taylor is the only other safety ready to play, although RS Fr Quincy Lenton is available off of a red shirt year.
With Gardner leaving corner, that means Duke Dawson is your only for sure starter. Based on the spring game, my guess is McArthur Burnett is the other corner right now, with Joseph Putu and CJ McWilliams as back ups - I wonder if they will be ready to play?
CB: McArthur Burnett, Joseph Putu
CB: Duke Dawson, CJ McWilliams
I have no idea who the nickel back would be as of today. My guess is Brad Stewart comes in and takes it from day 1.
What concerns me though is I doubt that Burnett, Putu or McWilliams are good enough to hold up in SEC play, especially against some of the good WRs that they will see in the league this year.
UF is in tough shape at that position right now. 2 years of mediocre recruiting is coming home to roost.

Calm the hell down. I know Harris is a big loss...more than what others even realize...he should get sixth year cause I think he was r/s ed. But he was a demon out there and our leading tackler.
But we have these student athletes on this program...they are called recruits....and before you blast recruiting of the past several years...you need to understand fundamentals...which some lack. We had a very stout secondary that no recruit was going to crack and they were young. Makes it harder to recruit certain positions. I informed folks of the OL several years ago that we had so many underclassmen on the OL that it would be hard to attract many recruits. This year we have upperclassmen on the OL and we got more recruits.
We are not Bama yet where recruits line up to listen to the pied piper. I myself think we are heading in that direction though...its taken longer than most would like but we are on the right path imo.
I hate this for Harris...he has worked hard and remember we had Keanu Neal at safety along with other DBs who were all drafted...or will be. We will be ok...I feel strongly that we bounce Meatchicken & UT and if we can get past a trap game in UK...look out.
Injuries are unfortunately part of football and why we have depth. But win the games I listed and we are well on our way to having a very good year.
Oh and by the way Gardner only got as many snaps as he did was because of injuries....but I am glad now that our defense was able to play talented LBs and DB because of our depth. Putu may surprise us..we don't know yet.

Next man up. This is why you sign more than one player per position and each one of these young kids will be chomping at the bit to get some PT. This may bring out the best in some of our young guys.

It's never a good time to lose a potential all American at a position you are young at, but I am glad it happened before the start of fall camp. Now all the the young guys will know that they are fighting for a legit starter job and should work like they understand that.
From what I've heard, Marco Wilson is as polished as they come out of high school. I can see him starting at corner, moving Chauncey Gardner back over to safety. Then playing Duke Dawson at the other corner, Nick Washington at the other safety spot, and either a freshman or perhaps Jeawon Taylor of McArthur Burnett at Nickel

I've also heard to give up on Putu, he's lost and in over his head.

Man, if putu is in over his head, you have Burnett and Mcwilliams and then the freshmen.
Ugh.
Pray for good news from fall camp. lol

Hope Marcell can recover fully and continue his career whichever way he wants. My view on the secondary now is we will find out who can play. It seems these days there are kids that come in ready to go from day 1. We will see if we have some of those guys.

Oh come on. I mean, I give everyone here a hard time. That doesn't mean I'm a TJGator or whoever.

I get that you're trolling a majority of the time.
I think Mac won you over with his close on signing day

No harm no foul man, I myself was kidding around. Hope the recruiting momentum can keep rolling.
