Saw where D.J. will forego his senior season and head to the NFL early. I personally think he needs to stay another year. I see him as a late draft pick. On the bright side hopefully this helps our chances with Martez Ivey.

I've been reading some NFL draft scout sites were they were saying he was getting feedback as a 2nd rounder and definite 3rd rounder. Hey if that's what NFL guys are telling him then more power to him.

Reminds me of Xavier Nixon, as they both regressed while at UF.

Must be using the same draft reports Moore is using. Most college coachese even Muschamp himself said if you are projected to go first round go if not then stay.

I would go if I was projected for 2nd round but because projections are what they are projections and change so much especially if your combine sucks its risky. After the draft compare Kiper and McShays projections with the actual draft. With the exception the first two or three picks its a crapshoot. What I am saying is I am in agreement that I dont think he is a 2nd/3rd round player and where this info that he is a 2nd/3rd round pick to me is crap or bogus. Its not pocket change you are missing out on between 5th round and 2nd round. Agents have been known to get into the ears of players to tell them to go to the draft and they are projected high because they will make a buck no matter what round they go in and the more players they represent the more money they make. If he got his projection from a legitimate source that was looking our for his best interest's then go but IMO he is a 5th/6th round pick. Muschamp was referring to Juniors specifically Fowler when he said that and he said that if you are a later pick then the team is less invested in you and you can be cut easier and you wont have your degree to fall back.

I dont think he is a second or third rounder either. I am just saying when you got people in the NFL telling you that you are it can be hard to say no.

Not if you are objective. There is no way he's second or even third round. He's in for a rude surprise if he decides to leave.

Free Agent if he leaves and hopefully for his sake he stays. OL is a tough position to master and most need senior years to be able to make it in the pros.
Now...you can stick with a team as FA...but you might end up on practice squad and make puke money and might bounce around a bit until you get a chance to stick...if it ever comes. The smart thing to do is learn your craft and master it with the pros as a goal after team goals are met.
BTW big difference in pay between first round and 3rd or 4th round. NFL is cheap. Baseball pays the best overall because of the 162 games.
There is also big difference between top five pick and bottom of the first round...these days it all cookie cutter pay....all the teams have a formula and its by draft status and position you play....not a lot of variance....shelf life is short and you can get cut by anyone ...very very few guaranteed contracts....the best paying are the experienced players who get large signing bonus guaranteed...rookies aren't getting that kind of $$.

Florida's OL situation is quickly approaching dumpster fire status.

I was wrong on that one -- I thought talent scouts existed but I was sorely mistaken.
I can't believe "Wheels" actually did it.

And, in my defense, everyone here pretty much said the exact same thing.
No one predicted first round, and I honestly have no idea how they took him over a litany of other OLs out there when he accomplished nothing at Florida.

From everything I read is he shot up on the board after he had a great combine. Bruce Campbell out of Maryland 4-5yrs ago did the same thing. Either way glad he made it into the first round.
Exactly watching games again not really seeing that 1st round draft position. 2nd rounder but its not my job to scout players so they know way more than me and see something I don't.

Especially after that Mizzou game, he got blown up twice as if the DE were a blitzing corner back.
I'm also assuming they see something I didn't, but having watched him play for our Gators, there's no way an underachieving junior is a first rounder.
Maybe our coaches were really just that bad at utilizing talent?

He did get drafted in first round and if you are surprised, then you don't know the NFL. They measure players with tape measures and stopwatches and use "potential" as a guideline.
Because of his size and agility Humphries got a good look. You can play crappy in college sometimes and still get drafted high. A few examples: the qb EJ Manuel and the kid at Va Tech....both horrible, but if you are 6'4" + and weigh 240 + then they feel they can convert you to an accurate passer who can read defenses.
The fact remains...a 20th something pick in the draft is X dollars and with a another year of playing time the same player could be drafted in top ten and make XX dollars. Sometimes leaving early will actually cost a player in money...if they stayed another year the additional money as a top five pick is so much more than what they got as a lower first rounder the year before...although now the league is really tight with $$ and they don't vary as much in scale.

DJ made a good decision. he worked his arse off in the off season, came to the pro days weighing his best weight of his career, up over 300 pounds, had great speed and strength.
Everything you want in an NFL tackle.
He had some good games at Florida, and some bad games.
I think you certainly have to factor in our piss poor offensive coaching when evaluating him though.
