DJ Durkin is the DC for my team now. What should I expect from him?

Is he as "good" as the national media makes him out to be? What kind of defense does he emphasize? Aggressiveness or "bend but don't break"?

Finally, Michigan has sucked over the last few years at creating turnovers. Does Durkin emphasize turnover creation?

Basically, overall, should I be excited for this hire?

Not as familiar with DJ Durkin as these Florida fans like gator is but from what I've watched over the years is that Durkin gets a good pass rush going with blitz packages and puts his corners on islands. You'll need to recruit better for his system to work. Jabrill peppers will do well for you. Durkins talent at Florida is much greater than what you have right now. I'm sure harbaugh will get you going there though. I would expect your defense to be simple his first year or 2 with the lack of players Durkin and harbaugh have hand picked. Year 3 I would think yall become more multiple and run 3-4,335 stack, 4-3,4-2-5, and several nickel and dime packages. Year 1 I would bank on 4-3 with 3-4 looks if you have a hybrid OLB/DE that's legit.

It's hard to know how good Durkin is since Muschamp was the head coach and defense was his specialty.

My guess, is that you will see a lot of man-to-man, press coverage on the outside. Lots of nickel formations. He'll move his guys around up front a lot to generate pressure and confuse the OL.

He seems like a pretty good college DC. I think it's a decent hire for Michigan.

Off CB alignment and a lot of man. Not much blitzing.

He will win the locker room and that's great news for Michigan. Good guy and will inspire on defense....cant say he can make chicken salad out of chickenshit...but good hire.

We protected the perimeter on defense and few sweeps, draws, flanker screens would hurt us with our reaction/recovery time...don't think meatchicken has that kind of speed.

He is inheriting a very good UM defense. We were #7 in total defense last year, nationally.
