Yeah and all of that is unacceptable. But the talent level he was left with is unacceptable. Having to play Austin fricking Appleby is unacceptable. Having 6 scholarship OL when he took over was unacceptable. Having the 121st ranked recruiting class when he took the job in December of 2014 was unacceptable. And despite how terrible and unsteady the team was when Mac took over, here we are, going to Atlanta again. And don't try to minimize that. It's a big deal. There's 12 other teams wishing they could be where we are.

You didn't say a word about Macs recruiting last week. You only pull that shite after losses. This game doesn't change the fact that the players Mac is bringing in are good players. They're young, but they're good. Let him build this program. Stop fricking bitching and get behind the team.

This is not a kneejerk reaction. It's realistic.

I didn't blame Appleby. He was awful, but I didn't blame him. I blame the coaches. A graduate transfer and a guy that is very familiar with this offense should produce a better product. RBs are better as a unit, so is the WR corps. But the offense is not. That's coaching.

Last week's opponents are irrelevant. The OL has been a catastrophe but it's still the responsibility of the coaching staff. I think FSU had to break in a new OL this year, but they don't seem too affected by it.

Officiating is an excuse. Your observation is valid but it's still an excuse. The plays were there for UF to make. And this was no Swindle at the Swamp.

About 1992, you only help make my point for me.
1986, 7-5, 7th place SEC
1987, 6-6, 6th place SEC
1988, 7-5, T4th place SEC
1989, 7-5, T4th place SEC
1990 1st in SEC 9-2
1991 1st in SEC 10-2
1992 1st SEC East, 2nd SEC to national champ undefeated Bama
This talent Spurrier inherited couldn't finish higher than 4th in the SEC and had at least 5 losses each year. And when that talent left, he still did better.

1993-1996 4 SEC titles in a row
Spurrier never lost more than 4 games in a season
His drop-off in 1992 was to win the East that was vastly superior to the East today and to put Bama in serious jeopardy of losing the SECCG, when Bama had one of the best defenses of the modern era. Also, Spurrier won his bowl game in 1992 rather easily and finished up 10th in the nation. Last year's bowl game was a disaster. There's no reason to think it's different this year unless they put UF up against one of those 6-6 teams that's in a bowl because it has a high graduation rate.

What improvement - I'm just not seeing it. UF's rankings at the NCAA site as of now:
Total offense 114th was 111th 2015
Passing Offense 86th was 87th 2015
Rushing Offense 104th was 112th 2015
Scoring Offense 104th was 100th 2015

I like your optimism, but I don't think it's warranted.

I believe that if you survey coaching across the nation, over the past 30 years, you'll find that after two years you can accurately describe how a coach's tenure will be at a given school.

Again....Mac is our coach for the next TWO years minimum and whoever HE wants as OC. He hasnt gone 6-6 or 5-7 and even if he did that next year (highly highly doubtful) he would still get another year to right the ship.

I am going to predict better things for 2017 and see another trip to Atlanta. We are going to break through real soon imo. The road to success is sometimes bumpy but things on offense will soon get much better. If our OL blocks better Appleby or Del Rio or even Treon looks better. Franks is my choice (and it appears the coaches) to lead the way.

We are going to have some rough spots....all teams including Bama have them....but I really believe most of us will be happy next year.

The schedule is very easy to manage, UT, LSU, A&M, Vandy & the Fla State College for Women will have to play in the Swamp. Im more worried about an improved USC, Mizzou or UK on the road. UGA will still be a year away, but dangerous. Meat chicken is owed one.

The thing is the OL played OKAY last night. Applebees held on to the ball WAY too long on several occasions.

Sure the RBs missed pass protection assignments, but if the ball is out thats not an issue.

Again, we have had the same problem for 7 years. We don't have a QB.

McElwain will be judged ONLY when he gets a legit QB.

Put it this way, if UF fires Mac after year 3, no elite coach in their right mind will want to come to this situ

It's not like we could go hire the hot up and coming coach after firing our coach after 3 years . Strickland needs to let Mac know that the games are over and he better fix the offense. The problem is clearly the offense and Mac being a offensive coach needs to fix it if he is half the coach we were told he is.

Comparing how the CFB landscape was in 2004 to 2016 is dumb.

Appleby and LDR were his qbs. You don't get a pass because of injuries or bad personnel decisions

Our last 2 disastrous hires:

Mac 18-7 2-6 vs top 25
WM 18-8 4-5 vs top 25

The offense was held to 14 pts or less 8 times under WM

In 2 yrs under Mac the offense has been held to 14 or less 8 times.

This is what happens when you have an AD with zero clue how to hire a FB coach and let him make bad decision after bad decision. We've scored 6 points on offense the last 2 years against FSU. We've scored 4 offensive TDs our last 4 games and we're 8-49(16%) on 3rd down

I just want to be clear, I think mac should get 4 years barring a melt down next year. I just don't think most of the fan base will be patient enough for that unless we have hope on offense. And right now there is no hope. Or barely any. Like I said, if a freshman qb emerges next year it's all good, if not,he's gone.

What program is he building

Ours.

The offense is bad -- because of Muschamp. It's been the story.

Muschamp had two quarterbacks on roster -- Grier and Harris. Driskel was transferring because the team ran him out, no one played hard for Driskel and no one was motivated by him or for him.

One pissed hot.

The other was a quarterback for one game a year.

We're here from a three team transfer walkon and a transfer from Purdue.

What in the frick would you do, TJ?

I really want to know what your alternative is.

Burn a fricking redshirt on the future of our program to play at most three games?

We won the East, let's just take our lumps and come back next year. We had a true freshman playing on the offensive line and our RG playing Center against a team with the most sacks in the country in their stadium.

Since then: We've gone from six offensive linemen to 14, recruited an award winning kicker, two quarterbacks (and one of our best offensive players coming in next year is a quarterback) but...

There was simply no alternative last night.

Our team was playing a fricking backup linebacker at cornerback.

That wouldn't have happened if Mac had recruiting decent CB's last year. We bombed at that position, and it hurt us a few different times this year when our starters went down. Against FSU and UT specifically.

Our nickelback went down, both starting safeties went down. That right there is -3 Defensive Backs and most of the guys who came in are RS this year. Our NB behind Wilson is Gardner, who was playing safety. Behind him is Williamson.

You can't just lose 3 starting Defensive Backs and plug them in with anyone, and you can't just fix a recruiting class that had ten players in December when you took over.

At least we have multiple four-star DBs coming in next year.

Slayer...let me inform you about todays recruiting world:
They all want to play IMMEDIATELY. DBs last year looked at our roster and saw firmly planted stars on the team that wouldnt allow them to play much at all...and they were even sure if both corners would leave after jr years. Of course they had no way of knowing the mass injuries that would happen.

Why do we NOW have so many DBs interested in us? Simple, they know 3 starters are gone after this year and they can compete for a starters position. This is the same reason it was tough last year to recruit OL...when you had three true frosh start/play a lot of snaps. It will still be a challenge for OL with our youth but 2018 should see a lot of OL standing in line to come here.

Id do anything to use Treons strengths instead of trotting him out there and trying to make him a pro style QB. As for the now Mac should've went with Franks to help get him ready for the future. What does playing AA do? How does that help with 2017? Maybe try Jacob Guy. Maybe fire nuss and summers after zero improvement the last 2 years. Nuss looked the same at michigan. Not hire multiple duds on staff. Not whiff on DT recruiting 2 straight classes. Not turn UF into the 3* U of the SEC big 6. Not get boat raced by Butch Jones or Bret Bielema. Who recruited LDR and AA here? Was it WM? Who hasn't recruited the biggest juco recruit in stidham? Who left LDR in the game with a hurt arm? Who said he could win with a dog? Wining the east doesn't mean squat when you get destroyed by decent teams. What's the excuse for now? Not 2015, but now? Why the offense is in the 100s with an offensive coach. We have 1 commit on the OL right now. Also our best DT commit is trending towards PSU. What QB is our best offensive player? All these problems lead back to Mac. Whether its recruiting, personnel decisions, preparation or in game coaching. He's making millions to improve the offense and That's not happened

This is what happens when you lose recruiting battles is all I'm saying. Fulton would have been nice to have this year. A number of other Dbs as well.

We have to get past the blame Muschamp crap. 0-12 on 3rd down is this coaching staff's fault. Currently 120th rank in total offense is this staff's fault. 9-46 on 3rd down the last 4 games is this staff's fault.

Our last 4 games we have averaged 272 ypg the 128th ranked team in ypg currently averages 283ypg. 14.75 ppg in the last 4 games the 128th ranked team in ppg averages 14.8ppg.

I think a lot of the frustration I know especially for me is just carry over from Muschamp's offensive ineptitude and we hire a guy who supposedly could play his dog at QB and win. Yet this year statistically isn't any better than Champs last year. We are down in rushing offense, scoring offense and total offense.

With the success other new coaches have had at turning their offense around Pitt and VT just to name a few it gets old knowing that instead of thinking we can score on any drive I am thinking will we score this half. Mac gets another year in my book if we regress next year or show no improvement then we do like Texas 3 years and you're gone.

I also think winning the east the last two years is a joke. The east is terrible this year and it was also last year. We got lucky Tenn fell apart the last 2 years or we would be looking in from the outside.

No, we fricking can't.

You just don't understand how bad we were offensively.

6 offensive linemen on scholarship.

Six.

Just for contrast, Alabama has 22 on scholarship.

No quarterback outside of Grier, who was a roid head.

Two true freshmen runningbacks going behind Scarlett.

We're just now starting to see how fricked we would have been with Muschamp -- because if you think we'd've won the East last year and this year with Muschamp as head coach, you're just delusional.

My sentiments exactly.

They want instant success straws. They don't understand that building a program takes time. They simply do not get it and they never will. We can try to reason with them, but when you're as hard headed and as negative as they are, you'll never be able to make them understand that success doesn't come at the snap of your fingers.

Can you imagine if Mac went 7-5 with a phenom 5 star quarterback this season and a preseason all SEC running back? But hey, at least Kirby has a good recruiting class! They swear they're the "realist" when they can't even acknowledge how bad our previous coach was and how horribly he left our locker room and what a disaster he made us on the trail. They can't even acknowledge that Mac has built up the offensive talent and improved the facilities. They base their judgements on Rogue statistics and rankings that hold no barring on the field. They're absolutely delusional and idiotic.
