Ivie is out as well.
I've seen some say they expect Bullard to play.

Not good.
Our Offense better step it up a notch.

I'd love to see more of our younger guys out there against SC. I don't think I mind resting Bullard for a game to make sure he's 100% healthy.
And that targeting call was absolutely atrocious.

Bullard not playing would be really bad for us. He commands a lot of double teams. Caleb Brantley needs to be the man.
Ivey is still learning and we can rotate Thurman to guard and have Dillard play center.
Agree about targeting call...trash...how can replay see what Im seeing on the big screen and confirm it? It was not helmut to helmut and before long we will be playing flag football.
What makes hits these days harder on receivers, RBs or QBs? Back in the early to 1960s you could hear that leather pop when someone like Jack Card lit up your azz. A few years later we had Jack Youngblood tear arms off QBs or Steve Tannen knocking WRs into next week...and in the mid 1970s guys like LBs Ralph ...Ortega & Glenn Cameron sent RBs to the sidelines and the popping noise could be hear up in row 90. Sammy Green brought lumber at LB...then in late 70s the incomparable Scot Brantley knocked RBs out of their cleats.
Could go on and on about Wilbur, Little...but you get the picture....how did the hell did anyone survive? It was because they were tough as railroad ties and today we are softer than Betty Crocker. Dont even talk about faster stronger players today...that laundry dont wash.

No doubt that the game will change, but we can't be a one man team like LSU on offense. I want to see what our underclassmen are doing, and I want to see how we'll do without him next year. We won't see another Bullard for a long, long time. He's really special.
As for targeting: I understand if it's the crown of the helmet, you can at least show that he tried to aim for the head (hence: target) and that the player launched high.
He was coming in at chest level and the QB simply lowered to anticipate the hit. He hit him with his facemask, Konk hit the dude with his arms.
If it's with the crown, eject, if it's any other bodypart or equipment, no ejection. That's the only change I would make. Sure if there's contact helmet to helmet (certainly not forearm to shoulder) maybe an ejection is good. But we've had two straight abysmal calls.

I'm with you regarding the fact that the call was shite and that targeting as a rule needs work but come on man. The quoted section is just wrong.
The players ARE stronger and faster and the metrics show it. 40 times are faster jumps are higher, more weights are lifted etc. And more importantly players didn't survive. So many players were dying young and mental problems were becoming a serious issue.
I get the nostalgia, but the safety concerns were/are real and many of the rules they included have done a lot to reduce risks.

Players dont practice anywhere near what they were doing 55 years ago. Just remember Bear Bryant and the Junction boys when he was at A&M...the players that survived PRACTICE stuck to the team. Weeded out those who would and those who wouldnt. The players were subjected to workouts that players today would not be able to endure and they'd quit. 40 times dont mean #@%^!& if you cant block or tackle like your teams life depended on it.
In those days the scores were usually very close because of low scoring and kickers were highly prized. This was in the era of punting on third down if a coach decided it was better than 4th and inside your 30-35 yd line. The punt block units didnt mind being a little rough on any kickers. Spurrier punted quite a bit btw and he punted on third down a few times.
But now we have 20 hrs of practice and players mope around and by God you better not grab their facemask cause they will cry to mommy and diddy. Its a reflection of society in general and God help us if we ever have a nuclear war and most of this generation couldnt get a McDonalds or use a microwave....they'll starve to death. Ok...I'll get down off the soapbox

He actually played quite a few snaps...especially in 2nd half.We do a great job of subbing players on the DL to keep them fresh...just wish we hadnt of subbed McMillian with 50 seconds in the first half. I watched game replay earlier tonight and he just cant handle the physical nature of MLB. He has been around for a while and I really thought he would be a great addition. He needs to get weight supplements in him (check with staff) and put on 20-25 lbs.

Offense will have to control the clock and score some points.

Keanu Neal will play, David Sharpe is good to go, Joey Ivie will be out due to a minor leg surgery to clean some stuff up will miss multiple weeks, Bullard status changed from doubtful to "highly questionable" Mac said they will see where he is at tomorrow however he did get some work in today.

The Florida defense will feel Bullards absence. Especially without Ivie too. UF offense will have to play keep away a bit.
