Jack isnt a ref anymore thank God...who can forget the bad calls over the years. Ron Cherry is probably an executive in supervising refs or something?

It used to be a rotation of acc refs when we played at home and the SEC refs away when we played the girls school. Have forgotten what exactly has happened in more recent years, but its either a mixture of the two conferences or a yearly rotation were acc refs are set up for away games?

Who can forget the Swindle In The Swamp? Ron Zooks team deserved a better fate...this was before instant replay but even that could have been tainted. Lets face facts, the acc doesnt want to have their school beaten by an OOC team.

Theres always that nagging feeling I get when acc officials are involved. So...who can enlighten me as to the protocol now used?

Dear Gator Fans,

I should have taken the torch from Steve and led the charge about FSU's dirty play.

Against FSU in 2001, Darnell Dockett tried to stomp on Rex Grossman's hand and he maliciously attacked Earnest Graham's knee, twisting it and injuring Graham. The following week, Graham's absence was the single biggest factor in the loss to Tennessee. Without a ground game, Steve could not control the clock, secure key first downs, his defense stayed on the field too long, and suffered a 2 point loss. Tennessee had 80 yards rushing at the half, and then almost 200 in the second half, most coming in the first 20 minutes of that half as Tennessee focused solely on pass defense, got UF off the field, and wore out UF's defense.

Graham ran for 149 yards in the bowl game against #6 Maryland, who had the 9th ranked rushing defense. Miami had the 40th ranked rushing defense.

Tennessee went on to lose the SEC Championship Game to LSU, whom Steve defeated 44-15, in Baton Rouge, earlier in the season.

Film of these 2001 events was conclusive of both the act and the intent to injure. From "playing to the echo of the whistle" to feigned outrage about accusations that FSU players seek to injure their opponents rather than win fairly on the field, history has shown us that FSU is the most dishonorable program in NCAA history.

Had I taken up this issue, and removed Steve from the spotlight and unwarranted scrutiny, he may have remained at the University of Florida. He led the charge in 1996 as well, when other issues about FSU came up.

I should have boarded a plane with video in hand, and sat down personally with the SEC and ACC Commissioners and heads of officiating, and demanded recognition and action from them. I should have done this in support of Steve and all of our student athletes.

This was Steve's last championship caliber team and a victory over Tennessee almost certainly would have meant another SEC Championship and potentially another National Championship. But dirty play from the dirtiest program in the NCAA scuttled all of that.

FSU's legacy should not be lost on today's Gator players. It is not lost on me. There is no margin of victory too large and no amount of damage inflicted too severe when playing FSU. Their will must be beaten out of them from the first play of the game.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Foley
