GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s top receiver target, 4-star prospect James Robinson, officially visited UF this weekend.

The Under Armour All-American hung out with several Florida commits, early enrollees and current players, most notably Gators linebacker pledge Ventrell Miller.

Both Miller and Robinson are from Lakeland, Fla.

“The bonds I had with everyone,” Robinson said, “that was the highlight of my trip.”

Robinson, who is recruited primarily by UF secondary coach Torrian Gray, had previously said he needed to forge a relationship with receivers coach Kerry Dixon II.

On Sunday, Robinson told SEC Country that has happened after spending time with Dixon this weekend and receiving two in-home visits from him on Dec. 8 and Jan. 12.

“Yeah, we have built a bond,” Robinson said. “Ever since they started coming hard at me, we’ve gotten closer.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound wideout is ranked the nation’s No. 11 receiver and No. 76 overall recruit.

Robinson plans to visit Alabama (Jan. 20) and Ole Miss (Jan. 27) before making his decision on National Signing Day.

Hoping to make a lasting impression, Dixon and the staff stressed to Robinson that he can make an instant impact in Florida’s offense.

“Their message is just that I could come in and play,” Robinson said. “They tell me I have length and athletic ability to go up and get the ball, and that’s what they need.”

I actually think UF will be fine at DT in this class.

Spence just visited.

Slaton, Truesdell, and Conliffe visiting next weekend.

Devonte Wyatt and the Gaddy brothers visiting the 27th.

UF needs 3-4 DTs and has Kyree committed.

I could be wrong but I think Jones has an agreement with ESPN to announce his school choice on NSD.

How are we ranked behind Maryland, Kentucky and the Gamecocks right now.

News on Herbert after his OV to Auburn he said that the tigers have moved into serious contention. LINK

Herbert a four-star offensive tackle prospect from American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., officially visited Auburn this week.

While on that visit, he got wind of Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers' departure. It wasn't long after that he was on the phone with coach Jim McElwain.

"Honestly, I didn't even know about it until someone texted me about it," Herbert said. "I was kind of shocked, because that was my guy over there at Florida that I talk to the most besides coach (Randy) Shannon and coach Mac."

McElwain attempted to smooth things over quickly.

"Honestly coach Mac called me and told me that they're bringing in someone, so hopefully that someone is someone that I'll like," Herbert said. "Coach Mac said I would like him, so we'll see."

Clarification on jones naming us his leader.

Below is what he actually said to the media after the visit.
Jones still has official visits to UCLA, USC, Texas A&M and Florida State coming up. Is there a team standing out as he heads into this final stretch of his recruitment?
“UF,” Jones simply answered.
When pressed for clarification on if the Gators were in fact his leader, Jones replied with: “You can say that if you want to call it a leader or whatever.”
He then went on to explain himself.
“I haven’t gone out to see Florida State. I’ve been to UCLA and USC, but that was over spring break, so none of the players were there. I didn’t get to mingle with them. I have met all the coaches and stuff.
“I would basically say UF has the edge because I’ve been there first.”

In other news Ohio State is now making a push for Robinson after losing a commitment from Tyjon Lindsey.

Alabama is pushing really hard for Henderson after failing to flip a couple guys (Shaun Wade and Stanford Samuels).

Stokes rated his visit a 10 LINK /

Florida will beat Bama for Henderson. I feel confident in that based on our relationship with not only Henderson, but people that are around hime and how tight he is with the Wilson's.

Why is it taking Mac so long to fill these staff hires? Summers has been interviewing at other places for weeks. It took him almost a month to name RS DC and we still need to find a LB coach. We're outstaffed on the recruiting trail and giving rivals easy negative recruiting fodder. Either he's been turned down a lot or the AD won't give him $ or both. Coaches are being hired left and right but it seems we're standing still. What's going on?

Because he's a bad coach who can't win anything and a horrible program manager.

I know that. I just didn't know that coaches thought the same. It's clear the UF admins on down aren't serious about UF football being elite anymore.

According to Rivals, were ranked 9th in average star ranking with an average of 3.6 stars. There is only one team ranked above us with less commits than us, that's Clemson.

There are 11 spots left in Florida's recruiting class at this point. 9 of the 11 spots are expected to be filled by players rated 4 stars or better.

He is white.
