What could be a disaster?

I think they mean 2016 QB recruiting in general.
Posted on 7/21/15 at 1:46 pm to G8RnGA
Didn't we just recruit a top guy for 2017? With a freshman and sophomore already on the roster?

Whoever loses will probably transfer. Del rio imo is for depth and Allen wont be here til 17 and unless he EE wont be close to being ready. That would leave us with a bad situation again if the starting qb goes down next year. We have had that happen in 2011 and 2013.

I mean, if both are playing, which seems likely, why would someone transfer?
I guess it's possible. But until we have a pulse on offense I think the chances of having a deep stable of QB's is just limited.
UF has to prove it on the field before they commit.

Heck of a list. Hopefully this FNL can be more like the FNLs of old and result in some significant commits. Would be great to gain some momentum!

I agree it would be ideal for depth reasons, but I think Florida fans are a little paranoid now about QB injuries after the Muschamp regime. I don't think QB injuries are really that common. Tebow was one of the most physical QBs and I believe he never missed a game due to injury. Don't think Leak did either. Or Rex. Or Danny.
If one of Grier or Harris transfers it's cos the other was clearly better so we have our QB for a few years. I'm not overly worried about that guy getting injuries esp since I think Mac will build a good OL again.
I also think something about Muschamp's philosophy (either how he practiced or his system) was just more conducive to injuries. It can't just be bad luck with all the injuries he has.
Almost all teams are going to suck if their QB gets injured unless they have a strong run game. I think the lack of QB depth got magnified for us because QB 1 has also been terrible under Muschamp.

Wish there was more recruiting discussion here. The GC recruiting board is filled with know-it-alls and assholes and anytime you post anything even perceived to be negative they jump all over you and the sheep just pat them on the back about it.

2016 QB Kyle Trask committed today. He is a 2 star out of Texas. He had offers from Houston Baptist, Lamar, McNeese State. This must be a strictly numbers pick up.

Weirdest July pick up I have ever seen since I started following recruiting with Florida more than 10 years ago.

Gee I seem to remember a kid from Mayo that no one wanted and who walked on at Florida to become SEC POY.
My only concern right now is that recruiting is getting skill players heavy and I would like to see linemen on the defense and some LBs.

It is still July / August
Not a lot of great linemen in this class for traditional recruiting areas. Rumph is doing work getting guys like Shavar Manuel on campus for FNL, but no major results right now.
At LB, only LB set to leave next year is Morrison. Also the commits that we do have on the line are DE/LB hybrids. 4 * LB Jeremiah Moon out of Alabama Hoover HS just committed.

A lot of great QBs had very few stars coming out, and even for this guy it's because he's not a starter.
He's 6'5'', got the right build and could definitely develop into a great player -- could also be terrible, but you just never know these days.
As an addendum, he sort of reminds me of Brees with the way he floats the ball in rather than bulleting it.

I know we are soph heavy at LB...thats when you recruit replacements....or we could just wait until they are gone and scramble?????
Float a pass? Nobody floated passes right on target like Danny Wuerffel. Weak arm but strong brain.

Jayvaughn Myers 4 Star CB(2016) committed today. His half brother is #1 2016 WR Nate-Craig Myers. Hopefully this will help us pull him in since he is considered an FSU/Auburn lean currently. #DBU
