Anyone heard anything about D'Anfernee McGriff? Signed with us last year but didn't qualify so we placed him in a JUCO. IIRC he intended on being an EE this year.

McGriff is in prep school instead of JUCO. Prep school allows you time to retake classes + improve test scores to qualify for FR year. If you go JUCO, you are required to graduate from JUCO to get academic eligibility.

Given that McGriff hasn't had much updates on projected eligibility, he likely ends up at JUCO next year. If that is the case, keep an eye out on wherever Dameyune Craig is coaching. McGriff is extremely close with Craig and would be a huge threat

This might not be good for our chances to land NCM but NCM said where his brother is committed isn't going to affect his commitment. We will see. We still have a great DB class going right now with 7 commits. Don't be surprised if another one drops out.

Per Zach Abolverdi of the Gainesville Sun.

"Florida can count 6 early enrollees towards the 2015 class and sign a max of 31 recruits (6-2015 25-2016) on Feb 3rd. Gators currently have 22 scholarships available before attrition."

Update on McGriff. He was released from his LOI when he went to JUCO. If he did join us again he would count against the 2016 numbers.

Andrew Spivey @AndrewSpiveyGC

I'm told that Jacob Eason is not at school today and sources are saying that he left earlier this morning for his official to UF.

It's true. We're sending Hartley to meet with him as soon as he gets back from UF.

This QB recruiting situation is going to be interesting.

Franks was asked what he thought of Eason visiting. His response "Not Good". When he was asked if he has any second thoughts on his commitment he said "I don't have any other comments on that". The worst case is Franks gets scared bails on us and Eason signs elsewhere. Les is scheduled to visit Franks in home today and Eason is scheduled to be visited by someone on the Georgia staff when he returns from his UF visit. Both Eason and Franks intend on enrolling early so they will both have to make up their minds soon.

If Franks lets another QB visit scare him away then so be it

You can't recruit scared. If Franks doesn't want to compete for the starting job as a TR FR, then so be it.

Abolverdi said there's more than a 50% chance Eason flips to UF fwiw. He's usually pretty solid but I don't see it.

If I were recruiting these young men I would simply tell them did the other school you were committed to sign any QBs last year? How many scholarship QBs are their roster?

We have 1 that can play, a transfer in Del Rio and thats it. Until Grier can play in 7th game. Franks has seen firsthand how badly we need a QB...Im sure Eason is aware also of the dire straits we are in.

No brainer if handled properly. Chance to be starting QB at UF....dont like competition? Go somewhere else. Franks has been quoted on twitter that he thought about decommitting from LSU for weeks....just dont think he would flip back to them...but these are 17-18 yr old kids. Eason is from Washington state and he is a serious thinker who wants to play in the SEC. UGA doesnt have HC and everything is in flux. Dead period is coming up now and that stops house visits.

Anyone else think Mack Wilson pushing his commitment date back today is a little telling about where he was headed. Bama about to lose Smart to UGA. This may help us out.

Zach is pretty good about info. Eason is not visiting with his parents. Which I don't know how to take. Nuss knows his family and has recruited him since hev was at Michigan. So they might need to make the trip.

If Franks is pissed about a QB competition, he can go elsewhere.

Good riddance.

I agree. I don't think Wilson was ever intent on coming to UF. Even if he picked UF this Friday, I didn't think he would actually sign with UF.

Easy dog...saying if he is pissed off...we all dont know that...he might be just needing a little love and Nuss should be on him like a duck on a junebug. That kid has talent up the ying yang....so I dont mind fluffing his pillow...but we all know when a kid has been heads and shoulders over all his peers that their heads can get inflated....we just have to be able to attitude adjust when necessary.

I dont like it when recruits come without parents as Eason is doing....but his parents are in Washington state and thats a haul. Im hoping this is an opportunity to see our school and get closer to coaches and then parents can always do unofficial. Lets hope. UGA gets DC minded coach can help us.
