UPDATE 2: University of South Carolina's campus will be closing for the remainder of the week. All classes have now been cancelled through Friday, October 7th. Only essential personnel should report on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. The USC/Georgia game has not experienced any scheduling changes yet. A decision regarding the USC/Georgia game will be made later this week in consultation with state and local officials as well as the Southeastern Conference. Officials have not had any discussions with the Georgia Dome in Atlanta as of Wednesday morning. Both Clemson and Sanford’s football stadiums could be available for the USC/Georgia game, though it seems that their goal is to keep this game at Williams-Brice Stadium if possible at all. Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte is also available, but the Carolina Panthers have a game there Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Josh Kendall of The State states that there are two options for the USC/Georgia game: either move the game or change the day of the game. I will update this post with any new information when possible. The image below shows the most recent update of Hurricane Matthew's path.

UPDATE 1: South Carolina State's home game vs. Bethune-Cookman has officially been postponed as the University announced it would be closed for the remainder of the week. A new date for the game has not been announced. While this is not related to USC news, this could be hinting at similar news for the USC/Georgia game that could come at any time.

South Carolina State Game Postponed:

ORIGINAL POST: Hurricane Matthew will be arriving on the coast of South Carolina on Saturday, impacting a majority of the state including the Midlands. Nikki Haley has stated that she cannot imagine the USC/Georgia game happening as scheduled as a state of emergency is confirmed for the state of South Carolina. University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides has confirmed that classes have been canceled tomorrow and will also most likely be canceled Thursday and Friday. This of course places many question marks around the USC/Georgia game that is supposed to take place this Saturday at 7:30 PM. No news has broken on a potential move of the game yet, but news may be coming soon. South Carolina’s athletics department issued a statement on Tuesday (10/4) about the impending storm, stating that they are tracking the storm and will alert the public once a plan of action is in place.

Talking to my Goddaughter today ... classes cancelled through the rest of the week, then they're supposed to come back Monday and Tuesday (provided there is no major flooding) then they are off again from next Wednesday through the following Sunday (off week for the football team).

Bad timing for everything IMHO. I told her to take my car and a friend of hers and drive back to Virginia tonight .... I'll see her again on the 16th - as I suspect will be the case for most non-resident students going home tomorrow.

Longest Fall break in history.

Hope they don't postpone or change venue for the game.

I don't see postponing or canceling as viable options. I think the only 2 options really in play (totally uninformed guess) are to keep as is or move the location.
