I say let Mcilwain play. They didn't give him any chance whatsoever to throw the ball. If it wasn't a screen, he didn't get a chance.

He also haven't proven he can hit an open reciever. The middle was ope all night, now it may have been further in the reads but Hurst was abusing the lb covering him all night.

I'd give it to Orth, hes clearly the better passer of the two & Mcilwain isn't producing enough with his legs to warrant him being in IMO. If Orth plays like crap then you've got 2 weeks to get Bentley ready for UMASS.

Start Orth and be ready to go to BMc quick if the UGa defense is in our backfield early and often due to our OL.

BMc quarter by quarter...

1Q = 4/6, 32 yds, 1 int
2Q = 3/5, -4 yds, 1 sack
3Q = 2/4, -6 yds, 1 sack

both sacks were on 3rd down. first one 3&13@SC38 in 2Q. the other a more critical 3&5@AM20 after English forced a fumble deep in AM territory 3Q. Fry missed his first FG right after. (possession was 2 rushes, 1 sack, 3 total plays after getting the ball at AM25)

Orth's possessions/4Q

3/5, 58 yards, 1 sack (-11)
4/6, 35 yards
4/7, 45 yards

Orth's sack was terrible (Zandi beat by LB and DWilliams whiffed his pickup on other side) as it was 2&9@AM14 and was almost a lost fumble. he threw incomplete to Dawkins on 3&20@AM25 and Fry missed his second FGA in a row.

I don't know, but Mcevoy just scored in the NFL and now I'm just sad.

At this point it has to be situational. Bmac is still developing but his read progression has devolved some for whatever reason. Think going forward it has to be situational to who plays. Orth isn't the greatest passer but he also isn't afraid to throw it over the middle. I am in no way a fan of multiple QB system but we have to go with what works at the time and our playbook is really really limited at the moment with Bmac and it doesn't take the opposing defense very long to adjust and shut down the options.

Has Nunez gotten his arse off his shoulders yet? Would throwing him at wildcat for a series be worth it to show the opposition something different?

We are showing improvement in some areas albeit slower than everyone hoped I think. Our play and games will always start and stop with our Oline and while they did seem to play better than at kentucky, there were still a lot of whiffs and missed assignments that directly lead to a dead play. Knott and #77 (name escapes me atm) are the worst at pulling on runs or screens and blocking absolutely no one. Usually the guy they miss is the exact person that makes the tackle on the play.

If the O-line continues to play the same way, it doesn't matter.....

This is so true. We definitely have to redshirt Bentley. People calling for Bentley have no idea what they are talking about (sorry OP). Why on earth would you want to throw a talent like him behind that piss poor OL only to be destroyed and possibly injured?

To be fair, McIlwain's indecisiveness doesn't do anything to help our OL. Orth got out there and got the ball outta his hand quick. If Bentley, and I concede that this is a big if, can get behind the OL and make a decision I think he will be fine. That has really been the crux of the issue with our offense: yes we are missing key players, yes the OL is less than stellar, but players have been in position to make plays but McIlwain either hands the ball off when he should keep it, doesn't go through his progession, tries to stutter step when all he needs to do is go straight up field etc. Can Bentley come out and make decisive moves? That's what needs to be seen.

How odd is it McEvoy has an NFL touchdown and Lattimore never got the chance to get one, life can be cruel. Though on a side note, I won McEvoy's Wounded Warrior jersey so I was happy to see him doing well.

As for who should start, there have probably been few if any posters more critical of Orth than I have been, but even I must admit he deserves the start this week.

I like letting bmac learn on the job...

I still don't get why Nunez was moved to wideout. He has a decent arm, just needs to be taught coverage.

I know why.

Not to sound flippant but Roper felt like he couldn't make the throws and was not QB "leadership" material.

Now, from what I knew about Nunez last year - that latter one is the important one and it's been proven correct by how he has failed to respond this season ... although, I keep hearing that Nunez is finally starting to show some life and get his 'tude on straight.

I witnessed first hand, with mine own eyes and ears, his 'tude issues last year even after Spurrier had left the team - hell, it was worse then as a matter of fact.

He's got physical talent - this staff is trying to work it between his ears now. A redshirt year will be good for him, it really will, I promise.
