I'm friends w/ a lot of UGA fans. What I'm hearing is that they lose a good portion of their D (Jenkins, Jones, Rambo, possibly Ogletree + starting corners). Murray could be back, and they'll still have Gurshall, but their D is going to breaking in a lot of young guys w/out a lot of proven talent. Ray Drew is expected to step up. They certainly expect to struggle next year (for them)... three to four losses in the SEC.

Anyone know a/b Tennessee's pro prospects? Will UF reload? Can Vandy or Mizzou make the leap?

Tennessee will be breaking in a new coach, so I don't expect them to be much better than 7-5 next year. I think us, UF, and UGA will again be the top three by a good margin. Honestly think that UF will be the pre-season favorite, though. They return a good bit on both sides of the ball, and have the #2 rated recruiting class in the nation coming in right now. UGA loses too much on defense (read somewhere that possibly 9 of 11 starters), but their offense should be solid. Vandy will be a wild card, but I still don't think they have the talent to win much more than 7 or 8 games in a good year.

I think UF has to be the favorite. They are going to be absolutely loaded next year. IIRC, they lose practically nothing off of an excellent defense. We lose a good bit, but we have some young guys who have shown the ability to step in and play well. Couple that with the best schedule we've had in recent years, and we could make a serious push for the SEC title game again.

As far as UGA, they will be replacing a lot, especially on defense, and we get them early. Frankly, UGA beating Bama could be a great thing for us, since then Aaron Murray would likely leave, so we would get UGA early with a brand new QB.

First problem is you're friends with uga fans...j/k

uga has too much going against it to be a threat next year. They will lose to uf, lsu and USC. They will lose 8-9 defensive starters and King and Brown are gone on offense. Murray may leave as well IF he is projected in the 2nd round or earlier (currently projected as a 3rd round). Ogletree will leave early. I don't remember Gurshall, did he play against us? Ray Drew hasn't stepped up his whole time there, and he won't start now. He's a 5 star bust.

It doesn't matter who Tenn brings in, as they are rebuilding next year and will struggle to win 7. They will lose to the SECe's Big 3, bama, oregon and possibly vandy. Bray will be back, but he will lose 2 if not 3 of his top recievers. The OL will be back and they're really good. However, their defense is in shambles and it will take more than 1 season to fix it.

UF will reload, they are very good all over and have crazy depth. This will be our toughest game, but at least it is after a bye week and in Columbia.

Vandy and Mizzou....no shot. Mizzou is still years away from competing in the SEC, they don't have the right coaches or toughness. Vandy is getting better, but the game is in Columbia and their key starters on both sides of the ball. We'll catch them to early in the season for them to adjust.

Bray isn't coming back

UF will be the front runner in the east, with everyone else looking up at them

Thanks for the replies. A question a/b UF... I thought they were losing a lot of talent? I haven't heard anything from fans or the like but aren't Elam, Easley, Floyd and Jenkins threats to jump to the NFL? Are y'all basing your predictions for them for next yr on the assumption that all will stay?

UF will be the favorite barring mass exit of draft eligible players. I think we will be second, due to UGays mass exodus on defense

I agree, UF will be the odds-on favorite but they have to come to our place next year.

If we get past our opener against UNC and then on the road at Georgia the next week, we could roll into the UF game with everything on the line for both programs.

Should be interesting in the East next season. I'm not counting-out Georgia just yet though. It's not like they have not been recruiting well. Depending on who they lose this year, if Murray goes, etc., then think about this. We could easily be preseason #3 in the East next year behind Florida and Georgia, although I doubt that will be the case.

We have to get through 7 other games before Florida.

Although not the toughest teams, that 3 road game in a row against Miss State, Kentucky and Mizzou.

Not to mention at UGA between the UNC and Vandy games.

I like that we're back to UGA in week 2. At least playing the mid-season and beating them like we did put a stop to the "but it was early in the season" excuse (at least it should have).
That said, I think FL is the one to beat as well, though we still have to take care of GA and all others to avoid what happened to us the last two years.

This. If the Gamcocks are undefeated coming into the game with UF, expect a crowd like the UGA game this year.
