Doubt we'll even make a bowl game at this point

When you score 38 points and lose, the defense is the problem. I think LW has to go and take his 3-4 shite with him.

Thompson threw 2 picks in the last 3 mins though.
2. 1 was a pick 6. He's got to go

Perhaps. But the defense wouldn't have been on the field as much if we had stuck to with what was working. Plus, it was the offense that gave UK the go ahead score. Even with 38 points, throwing 3 INTs makes it rough for any team.

That game's on Spurrier, Ward, & Thompson.
There's no way we should see Thompson the rest of the year, it's time to build for the future in Mitch or Orth since this seasons a wash.
Our defense is God awful, Jesus Ward couldn't defend 1 play all night long. How about blitz right up the middle Ward, my god?
Spurrier and his bad play calling strike again, why the frick did he just want to throw so much it blows my mind.

Spurrier needed to run the fricking ball
But I agree. Defense was horrid

Based on the score by both sides neither has a shiny defense.

Lorenzo Ward must be relieved of DC duties. He has finally been exposed as a fraud that lasted off pure talent alone. He cannot coach an effective defense and expects our D to go for the big hits rather than good form tackling.
Dylan Thompson must be benched. He is not a good game manager and his decision making cost us this game. Even if the younger guys fare no better, at least they were given a shot to do something.
Pharoh Cooper is the only bright spot I see in our future. No one else on O or D has me excited.
Spurrier may be pissed at this turnout, but it is mostly by his own doing. You cannot abandon an effective running game in favor of hopes that your QB channels his inner Connor Shaw and literally create opportunities. I can't imagine much of the team has faith in Thompson right now.
And finally, once again..
FIRE LORENZO WARD.

Here's a stat I saw on Twitter:

@sportstalksc: USC ran it 22 times in the 1st quarter for 104 yards...26 times the rest of the game.

Well that sums up what happened rather nicely.
Spurrier needed to swallow his ego and realize this team is built for the power run. He was able to do it against ecu and UGA, but the past two weeks he hasn't been able to and it's cost is two games.

Just to reiterate
Holy shite we suck
We just fricking lost to Kentucky. We scored 38 points and gave up 45 points to Kentucky.
DT threw a pick six with less than 3 minutes on the clock and another interception within the same time span to seal the game for UK
Mike Davis had 183 yards and we didn't win.
WHAT IS HAPPENING

Gonna pull the "rebuilding year" excuse. It's the only thing that makes me feel better right now.

Who do we promote if Ward is demoted/fired, though? I don't know that I would have a lot of confidence in any of our defensive coaches taking over.

I totally agree with this. Our game plan for the remainder of the year better be to feed Davis/Wilds/Williams the ball with sporadic PA thrown in. Mitch or Orth should be able to handle that better and they need to get snaps anyway.

Williams has shown some flashes but he's been inexplicably limited. On D I think there have been a vast improvement in our DB play. Harris Jr. is going to be a good one for us and DJ Smith was playing a hell of a game until that shitty targeting call, IMO. There are some bright spots in there.

Going into that drive after UK cut it to a one score game I knew that we weren't going to run it again. I just don't understand how you can come out of that shite show in the fourth quarter last week and do the exact same thing the next week. All we had to do in both games was grind down the clock with our running game that was beating them consistently. Instead we literally threw both of those games away.

Biggest issue this season is the defense, clearly. We are making crucial mistakes on offense and having some pretty stupid play-calling there, most definitely. But we are gaining as many yds on offense and scoring as many points as we ever have under Spurrier, if not more than ever.
The problem we're doing that yet are still having to fight for our lives at end of games due to still being tied or even behind on the scoreboard. Thompson obviously isn't very good at QB in those kinds of tight, critical moments. And Spurrier obviously isn't very good as a play-caller either it seems.
But with the offense we've been producing, we shouldn't have to be in those situations for most of these games, but are because on a weekly basis our defense is letting the opponents match us yard for yard and score for score.
We just gained 500 total yards of offense and scored nearly 40 points last night. And lost the game. That is unconscionable....
Before the start of the season I knew our defense would take a substantial step back, but still felt we had enough returning experience to be somewhat decent. Middle of pack type of defense, with perhaps improvements as the season went along. I felt we'd need to depend on our offense to help carry the load perhaps more than we have in recent past seasons.
I surely didn't expect the defense to just fall off the cliff like it has. We are back to the Tyrone Nix, no-defense-at-all years. Opponents are able to run AND pass against us at will, churning out huge chunks of offense on every play. I shudder to think what the Clemson game will be like. The 63-17 score may be in serious jeopardy this season....

Ging winning score wasn't given up by the defense though.
And I think we win both games if spurrier runs the ball late. Why he feels the need to pass the ball when teams cut the least to 7 or tie is beyond me
