I hope this is just a sick joke but I have a feeling it's the real deal. This flyer/e-mail is far too specific and detailed for this just to be a hoax. frick Mizzou. fricking pussies for caving the way they did. frick 'em all the way to hell and back. Gottdamn yankees.

Flyer/Email circulating among USC students/protesters detailing walk-out and protest on Monday, Nov. 16.

Here's a list of their demands. frick MIZZOU!!!!!

quote:

Abbreviated List of Demands
Acknowledgement of USC’s slave history by including it in the historical portion of tours and adding plaques/markers to buildings constructed by slaves, and raising the plaque for the AAAS Tree to increase its visibility.
Expansion and improvement of minority recruitment efforts and creation of a minority scholars program through the Honors College.
Policies and accommodations for trans students including gender neutral housing and restrooms and streamlined process for changing gender markers and names within university databases and records.
University acknowledgement of gender identity and expression as a protected class under Title IX.
Investigation into the following university administrators: the Executive Assistant to the President for Equal Opportunity Programs, the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Academic Support, Student Life and Development, and the Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice Provost and Dean of Students.
An increased budget for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
An increased budget for the Counseling Center so that there are more available appointments and more free appointments provided to each student.
Creation of an intersectional diversity training provided by Office of Diversity and Inclusion that is mandatory for USC faculty and staff.
Transparency campus-wide through collection and visibility of data in relation to admissions/enrollment, campus sexual assault/rape/sexual harassment, and hazing.
A Social Justice minor/cognate allowing students to academically study intersectional forces of injustice and the solutions to these issues.
Renaming of the Office of Student Disability Services to the Office of Accessibility and Accommodation Services, and increased visibility and promotion for the office.
A plan to make USC Homecoming more inclusive to reflect and celebrate the diversity of our campus, our alumni, and our community.

I really hope this does not happen. I'm about to forward this to a board member just in case they are not already aware.

Please do. I'm afraid it is true. Sounds like it is from students posting on twitter. This is not good. Forget landing a good coach.

I frickING HATE MIZZOU.

ETA: It is the real deal. Confirmed it. This is horrible. We survived EVERY frickING THING our state endured over the past year without a SINGLE frickING EPISODE of bullshite like this. Even the damn Confederate flag rally/protest was outsiders from NC and Fl. NOT US. Then along comes the limp wristed pusses at Mizzou and this happens. Kick them the frick out. Now.

You are overreacting to this, step away from the ledge. Some students are going to do a walkout. SC's response is going to be civil. Some media might be there, but the demands are pretty far fetched. They aren't going to build transgender bathrooms.

I think one of the big things going on here is that we are coming into an election year and the left is just trying to rally the base and get them agitated so they'll know who they are and go out and vote.

This could actually be really civil tomorrow. Some students walk out. Pastides or other Admins are present with them and show that they are willing to listen. Everybody gives a big speech about tolerance and a 'forward moving' direction and then everybody gets along. As long as we don't have any arrests, this won't make the national news.

Everyone is now aware of it ... only took a couple of minutes. I'm sure that Harry is probably getting a call right about now.

This will go viral pretty fast I'm sure - so they are not going to catch anyone off guard.

ETA: Kinda pisses me off. I just gave a bunch of money to the very department that seems behind all of this ... I know the department Head, I know many key faculty members, I even know some of the GAs in the department. This is very disappointing. Very disappointing.

You're far more optimistic than I am.

Before the Mizzou debacle, I would have automatically thought the same as you. Especially given our response as a state to the events of the past year.

I'm afraid the cancer that is what occurred at Mizzou will spread and I don't want my alma mater involved in that in any, way, shape or form. The last thing we need is dissension among students that bleeds over to officials/staff/employees of the University.

I'll be holding my breath till this thing is over and done with and hopefully it goes the way that you see it going. We'll find out in the morning, I guess. *fingers crossed and prayers said*

That was their strategy, that's the only reason they asked to keep everything under wraps until 7 p.m. tonight. That...or this is a tater prank...notice how they don't have any names on any documents.

They could easily. This is all just hypothetical, but it could be a solid prank. The person who started it would just never take credit for it.

Anyways, I'm not going to give this a 2nd though until it actually happens. There might be 20-30 students who participate and it's seen as a non-issue. Not saying that tolerance is a non-issue, but this might not be some media frenzy event.

Nah ... it's for real. I sent two texts and it went bat shite viral inside of five minutes.

Daily Gamecock already knew about it ... was playing along with the activists.

Pastides was hand delivered a letter a little while ago .... he already knew.

I'm getting slammed on twitter for standing up for the silent majority. So many ppl are so afraid to say what they really think bc it isn't PC. Others, like these protesters, say they are protesting for the PC sake, but ironically it is at the expense of the very thing they say they're protesting for.

The mood on twitter is that of a simmering anger on both sides. Difference is, one side has the ability to scream and voice their opinions/demands, the other side does not or they'll be seen as racists/prejudiced/etc. Held hostage without physical restraint.

As long as non of the sports teams boycott their sport then this will not be a national story.

It'll get a lot of local and state media attention tomorrow and then be forgotten

This is horrible to say and I don't mean it like some will no doubt take it, but I think the tragedy in Paris will temper the coverage of this. Attention of this protest will be usurped by what is going on world wide right now. This whole world is falling a part. Makes me sad. And it makes me wish for my childhood when I was too naive to know the difference, if that makes any sense.

Rooster...

Bad news. In particular, our black football players are tweeting about this and not responding in a particularly friendly fashion to anyone not sympathetic of this protest. And then those not so nice tweets are being retweeted by other football players on our team. This def has the potential, and undercurrents according to what's happening on social media..to be bad.

ETA: Most of the tweets are being deleted almost as fast as they appear. Seems our guys are just spouting off then realizing tweets carry heavy consequences sometimes.

Very possible but those things got snatched within minutes of them being posted. Thing is, they got retweeted and retweeted again by God knows how many ppl in those few minutes.

I feel sick to my stomach about this. I don't want this shite for my alma mater. Things were good here I thought. Maybe I'm still naive and in denial. Is there treatment for that?

My office is on campus very close to where this is to go down. I am pretty anxious to see what materializes today.

They have under 60 signatures, I would be curious if you could do a quick count of how many people actually do the walk out.

Yea, doesn't sound like a major ordeal. Looks like Pastides responded in the correct manner to it. WIS had an article on twitter this morning.
