We were advertised as a blue collar team. We were the furthest in the world from that, last night in particular. We are in fact a finesse team that got punched in the mouth by a blue collar team last night. They took our haymaker, and when they didn't roll over and die we wilted in front of them.
I'm not sure if our plays are run/pass option or not but something needs to change. Our offensive identity needs to change. Bentley is good but the play calls look to specifically showcase just him. We're not even trying to use our running backs.
This finesse shite has to end. We need to ride our 3 running backs and use Bentley as a compliment to them the rest of the season.
We weren't even showcasing deebo last night and now we won't have him rest of the year.
If this mindset does not end, we will struggle to make a bowl.

Here's a thought...

I hope that little brat XT chokes on his tweets somehow. He is all tater...I do not believe that kid was ever a Gamecock fan no matter what kind of bullshite is claimed. He sent out message after message about us "taking losses to a basketball school" and similar things as that. Then he whined that Carolina fans jumped in his comments to defend the team and that they were being mean to him.

Y'all were right about him. He's a little drama queen who wants to dish it out but doesn't want to take it. Good riddance if he ever was a fan.

I thought a head coach with the emotional personality of Muschamp would not let our team take the field with such a lack of desire and passion to give everything they have. Win or lose, he's always praised their effort levels, and has made it a mantra for his program at USC that its hanging up on the walls inside the IPF.

But apparently UK was able to bring that passion and fire into Williams-Brice, and our team blinked, several times. UK was the team that didn't back down, and even after we drew first blood with the Samuel TD, the missed FGs and PAT drained what little fire the team had right out of them.

The defense is what it will be: it cannot stop the run and it cannot stop the little dink and dunk passing offenses that all opponents will now use against us. The zone coverage we're applying sort of allows for that type of offense to thrive.

The OL is not good on run blocking. IMO we should've still tried to run the ball more than we did last night - just throw it in more to keep the UK D honest. I do not know why Williams was not used at least some in the run game (he caught a couple of passes) to see if he could've gotten some yardage.

The use of Turner for short yardage gains up the middle of the LOS is not the answer when we have larger more powerful backs like Dowdle and Williams. Turner is a gamer, but that's just playing with fire in critical stages of games. At least if it doesn't work with the bigger backs, no one can question that you didn't try with the more logical options.

Bentley's accuracy issues is becoming a concern to me. Its hard to bring up accuracy issues with a QB that's completing 60+% of his passes, and with games where he ultimately goes 24 of 36 (66.7%). It's the same with the Mizzou game, where he went 18 for 28 (64.3%). Many of the misses are not where he's throwing under heavy pressure, to receivers who are tightly covered. There have many cases where the receivers are decently open - or entirely wide open - and all Jake has to do is play pitch and catch. But he over-throws them, or under-throws them, or doesn't even come close. Many catches are made by receivers who have to jump high to corral high passes, which derail their attempts to gain YAC they were in great position to gain, because they had to stop and leap for the passes.

Overall last night IMO it was a case of UK - of all opponents - coming into W-B and smacking our team in the face over and over in our home opener with a rabid home crowd, and our team wilted and crawled into the corner. That simply cannot happen, regardless of who we're playing. We have to defend our home a hell of a lot better than that.....
