IF we show progress this year, which I believe we will and we'll win more games than we won last year, I think the 2018 class is going to be the highest rated class we've ever had.

Taking a look at the 2018 247 Targets list, it's amazing how many 5*/4*'s have us as a leader, or we're in their lead group, or who don't have it reflected on that page, but from articles/interviews we know we're in the lead group.

https://southcarolina.247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/Targets

5* DE Xavier Thomas - We are his leader, not in CB projections but by his actions and interviews.
5* RB Zamir White - We are in his Top5 and we have help in Scotland Co.
5* RB Ricky Slade - We are in his Top5, even after the coaching change.
4* ATH Ricky Person - We are in his Top3
4* LB Khalid Jones - We will be his favorite once we offer. (we are seeing how he does this season.)
4* OT Kavesz Sherard _ we are in the Top2, in state battle.
4* TX QB Spencer Sanders - We are in his Top4
4* Ath Dyami Brown - We are in his Top5 and the closest SEC offer.
4* OLB Quin Wilson - We lead.
4* IMG HS RB - Jamal Elliott - We are in his Top3.
4* DE - Stephon Wynn - he's going to clemson like his dad, but said we are in his Top2.
4* QB - Artur Sitkowski - loves Roper, wants to be the next Eli Manning, we are in his Top8 and he visited this summer and he's coming back down for a game.
3* DT Kelijiha Brown - This is another super early eval by out coaches, plays way above his ranking.
4* QB Dakereon Joyner - we lead
4* DT Josh Belk - we lead
4* ILB Dax Holifield - Top 3, only SEC team in the Top3.
4* DT Ricky Sandidge - We lead and we have help in Concord.

This is all pretty early, but I think we are going to probably get the guys in Bold, plus we'll get some other guys that pop on as the next 18 months rolls on. I think 2018's class has a realistic shot of being in the Top10 nationally and if things swing our way a little more possibly even Top5. We have 3 National Recruiters of the Year on staff and a relentless HC Recruiter.

IF we got the 13 guys in Bold (and hypothetically their rankings/rating stayed the same) those 13 guys alone would be worth 241 points on 247's Class Calculator. That would rank as the #17 class for 2016 (WITHOUT even considering the other 12 guys we may sign, so it's very reasonable to project a Top10 class and possibly Top5, IF all of this were to come to fruition.)

This definitely has me excited for the future but we need to show it on the field. If we go under 5 wins, you can kiss that stellar class goodbye I think, outside of a few guys.

I think we will see improvement, how much I do not know. I am anxiously awaiting Sep. 1, but we won't know what we've got until mid-season. The product on the field is the biggest thing we can do to help ourselves with these guys.

Any idea on Derion Kendrick from South Pointe (Rock Hill)?

This kid is a beast with the ball in his hands. Super electric playmaker, and he is also a high 4-star.

The guy is from South Pointe, we should be WAY in the lead here. He is a super athlete with 'Play For Anybody' ability. He can go wherever he wants. He grew up a gator fan though, so we'll be competing against that. clemson has also allegedly been sending people to pick him up to take him up there for visits. He did visit us in late July, b/c his HS coach brought him down. I haven't read anything to make me think we are in his Top2 yet. I feel as he might visit a game this fall, and hopefully we can put on a good show. We have ample help in South Pointe, more than we do than just about anywhere, but he still needs to choose to want to be here. I wouldn't put him on that list above until he visits a few times and even then we are going to need to make up ground. I would take him on the team in a heartbeat though, he's a super athlete.

If we sign all of these, tRant will start hollering we're now the "pay for play" school bc "who would want to waste their time playing for South Carolina" and "how are they suddenly signing all of these 4 and 5 stars?" Y'all know they will...and I'll enjoy every last delicious complaint and barb they sling in our direction.

If we sign all those guys, they can say whatever they want, and I would be fine with it. I would also be fine with whatever happened to get us to that point as well.

Oh yessssss ... but the taterheads, they'll be the ones totally melting because they have offered all of them and they feel entitled at this stage. I kid you not I had an old taterhead friend of mine tell me this afternoon that they are going 15-0 this year and they're going to sign a top 3 class this year and next because if it.

That's the delusional world they're living in right now.

Good. And I see nothing wrong with it. Iactually hope it's true.

The rest of the conference outside of Vandy, UK and MAYYYYYYYYYYYYBE Mizzou do it. Let's get with the times.

I want a national title before I'm dead. Gimme some Cam Newtons.

Lets NOT get on the level of Ole Miss though. Meaning... paying for all that talent and nothing to show for it.

Lets get on the Auburn/Alabama level.

There are times I appreciate being wrong, or at least potentially being wrong. This may be one of those times. Muschamp and Company went to go visit Wynn after the game last week and we had a lot of contact with him leading up to that visit. Rivals is now reporting that SC is in the lead for Wynn, a clemson legacy.

I think word is out about 5* DE Xavier Thomas, 4* DT Josh Belk (both in state guys) and 4* DT Rick Sandidge coming to SC this '18 class and 4* DE Wynn likes the idea of coming in with a stacked deck of '18 talent (AND a lot of upper classmen leaving his Fr year.) Thomas, Belk and Wynn are ranked #1, 2 & 3 in the state for SC and all 3 are in the Top75 Nationally. Sandidge is #51 Overall as well. This would be the greatest DL class we've ever signed in terms of rankings/stars.

Doesn't TL Hanna have a highly regarded OL too? Any shot with him?

I'll be working with the rescue squad at the Whitmire vs Lewisville tonight so I'll give my impression of Belk later tonight.

Pregame he is a monster among these kids in 1A

First d drive 1 or 2 tkls and .5 a sack

Second time out for belk just cuts through the line and flushes QB into a lb for a safety

Third drive 1.5 tkls it looked like tough to judge from my angle

He had a great game I couldn't really see from my perch but he was in on every play and built a house in the backfield. He didn't play but I think 1 snap of the second half. He will be a stud and really hope we hold the lead.

Thanks for those updates Mike - I was following along.

Do we have any prospects playing for Atlanta Christian? They are on ESPNU right now playing Valor Christian out in Colorado.

It doesn't ring a bell... not a problem, i got to watch him thought id give a first hand reaction. Much like CiYE does for the charlotte guys. I tried to keep watch but first q whitmire was constantly inside their 25 and had Belk right in front of me as it was his side but second they were flipped and tough to keep track on field level. That and he didn't play the second.

Edit: his explosiveness is impressive but I love his handwork then again it could be the Whitmire OL, but they run a triple option and we're double or triple teaming him and still set up camp in the backfield. His motor is great never gives up and flies till the whistle.

Just to clarigy, Most of the CLT guys I see are on highlights of the FNL games on local media. I do see some Cabarrus County guys in person though when they are playing on or against my cousins' teams. I an confirm that the measureables for Hamsah and Sandidge on 247 are about right, they are big dudes. I think Sandidge has actually become taller than last year. His dad is a legit 6'9", but mom is much shorter.

KJ is visiting this Saturday. I don't know what to think about this, but I've read that he has legit interest in SC and playing for Muschamp and Lance Thompson. I'm trying to wrap my brain around having a shot at a DL Class with:
5* DE Xavier Thomas
5* DE KJ Henry
4* DT Josh Belk
4* DE Stephon Wynn
4* DT Rick Sandidge Jr
plus whoever else they can get.
