Come on in here and celebrate with us Wholelottacock & OleCock&Balls, this should be great! We just had a great bowl win and I know that you'll want to voice your positive reflection of the outcome of the game with as much fervor as you do when shite doesn't go right. amirite?

Ok, that's not really the point of this thread, but it was fun, at least for me.

Independence Bowl Game Thoughts:

1.) where dafuq has that defense been all year long?
Duke Johnson is a GREAT RB, he was going to get his yards, I had no doubt about that, but we didn't let him eat our lunch and destroy us. Also we contained them defensively pretty well, outside of that 1 long pass play.

2.) Dylan DID NOT blow the 4th quarter lead, he moved the ball the whole game, no turnovers and was really accurate. Byrd had a bad drop, that ball hit him in the face and should've been a TD.

3.) We only ran Davis 13 times, I think Miami thought we would run more, they committed to fill the box, and that's what opened it up for Thompson.

4.) WALTON - DAYUM, dude was everywhere, his INT Return was awesome, hurdling people and shite. I don't think Lammons should've got that call for a low block, I see that all the time and he didn't hit the low block from behind.

5.) That 'Running Into The Kicker' call was complete horseshite. The Punter did an axe kick to BAW's helmet, the Punter's heel coming down made contact with our player, not the other way around. That should've have been called. That fricker then flopped like a French soccer player.

6.) Spurrier's post game comment that, 'No Coaching Decisions" are planned for right now....thoughts? I think that's good for recruiting.

I think this defense sucked this year b/c of coaching in the aspect of inability to recruit DE's who would qualify the previous 3 years. Also the defense sucked when we lost time/resources moving to that 3-4 in the beginning of the year. We should have never done that. HOWEVER, the defense as a whole improved from the season's beginning to the end. I think the DB's got better with experience. There is still no pass rush, we need those DE's we recruited to get here.

7:) That Independence Bowl Trophy is the most legit 6-6 type Bowl Trophy I have ever seen. Yes, it's a low ranked bowl, but that trophy is better than the Taxslayer, CapOne, and Outback.

Post Game Celebration 'where dey at doe?' (listen for it) lol

Always good to win, right? I mean shite. But this d performance could potentially be and excuse/ reason to keep the d staff. And i would have a hard time arguing that point after watching. What jumped out at me was how fricking womanly our oline played against the 110th ranked run d in america. Elliots oline looked like an abortion.

I am sorry i know i am always mr turd in the punch bowl, and i am happy for the bowl win.... But....

I don't disagree with all of it ... but the Byrd drop, it was tipped. Would'uv been a tough adjustment to make plus he had to come back for the ball.

The D still looked porous at times, but they were much more aggressive at other times. Plenty of tackles for losses.

Dylan missed some open throws ... he had a few dropped as well. Cooper dropped he should have caught early.

Our OLine run blocks like pussies.

I was yelling all afternoon for DT to keep the ball on the read option ... it was there all afternoon. I guess we were saving it but it was still there all afternoon.

PS: I'm thankful for the win. We needed it badly. It halfway saved the season. We didn't embarrass ourselves.

I'm hoping enough positive came from this to close strong recruiting.

That's fair. We didn't run the ball a lot though. Davis only had 13 carries and he still avg'd over 4 yards per carry. Wilds only had 5 carries. We only allowed 2 Sacks though, that's not bad at all for the OL. I think what changed and what we saw in the 1st Q was Miami's Defensive Plan was to load 8 in the box and stop the run. They wanted to make Thompson throw, but to their unfortunate, Thompson was fricking [ON] tonight. He was throwing catchable passes on target and in time. He took 1 of those sacks he shouldn't have, he could've thrown it away.

I'm digressing, after the 1st Q we went away from the rush and started passing more, then we opened up on them b/c it was working. I thought the OL did a good job of giving Thompson enough time to make a throw.

That DL still wasn't great at generating a pass rush, we only earned 2 Sacks and 7 TFL's, but only 1 of those TFL's came from a DL. We generated pressure with the LB's. The defense altogether played well. You take out that one 48 yard pass to Lewis, and we allowed less than 190 yards of passing and only one 50 yard receiver. Our Pass defense was good on the back end. Kayaa was the #2 ACC QB for Passing coming into this game and we held him in check, he wouldn't even tell you he had a good game.

Oh, I think our LBs played lights-out and our DBs played their best game as a group.

DT had one really bad series in the second half. One bad overthrow I think they blamed on Cooper ... but he made some spectacular throws today as well.

Dylan will always be a Gamecock. And he is a good kid.

But............He is slow as molasses. Sometimes it seems as if he is cooking burgers back there.

The offensive line would look better if the qb/rb exchanges were smoother. And we likely would have three to four more wins this year.

I wish the kid nothing but the best.

Walton and Moore are gonna be amazing once we get some legit DEs on the team

I IRL

That has been their weakness all season, but their pass blocking had stayed pretty solid. Pass blocking wise it's the best O-line during the SOS tenure.

That's what I'm thinking. Once the SackAttack (or better name I'll tm later) get here with Lewis, Sawyer, Wideman, Blackshear, Key and Whitlow we are going to instantly uber-upgrade the DE position. We'll have better pass rush, and rush defense. We were too weak/small at DE this season.
Once this changes, our whole defense will change.

Although, Spurrier was right in his postgame comment, we looked to weak overall this season, compared to the past 3 seasons. We need the S&C staff to turn up. Maybe those are some of the staff changes that may take place. We absolutely need some vocal leaders on the team to get in people's faces about working out or getting together to run skeleton drills in the off season.

If Mitch wants to lead this team next year, he's gonna have to do that stuff and prove it now. If he can't get them to follow him now, they aren't going to magically do it in Fall Camp. These guys are also smart enough to know that they need a leader at QB to win games, so he really just has to assume control and do it. He shouldn't have too much push back.

I thoroughly disagree. I mean, we did so much better today than we had in the season but from Texas A&M to Tennessee to Clemson there was hardly any improvement. Miami ran one jet sweep that went for like 30 yards and I was sure they would keep with it after what Clemson did to us but they never went back to it.

edit- Underrated today was the special teams. Fry missed a FG (not counting that 58 yarder right before the half) and Cooper fumbled a punt but overall it was a solid day. Punting was good, Wilds had a good return, kick/punt coverage was great, and kickoffs went out the back of the endzone.

First and foremost, happy with the win.

Our DL is still so bad that literally anyone signed this year should expect to immediately contribute. Darius English needs to go. Never seen a DE who has never been able to shed a block before, but he accomplished this feat this whole year. Think we see drastic improvement in DBs next year. Defense should be back to level we're accustomed to given Lewis comes in and makes shite happen.

Offensively, I'm scared for next year. P-Coop is the only proven WR on the roster. Teams will double him all day long so someone has to step up. Maybe KJ Brent? Maybe Deebo? Who knows.

OL will be a mess IMO. Shell is only proven lineman. Others have experience, but none have really impressed. Wilds will need to stay healthy for an extended period of time and he's had trouble doing that. Hopefully Williams will be ready to tote the rock in bulk next year.

Lastly QB...until I see Mitch for an extended period of time, I will be skeptical based on what we saw this year.

I'm afraid we will have another down year before we're ready to compete again in 2016.

I have been rough on dylan this year but i wanted to say that td pass to mike davis was an absolute thing of beauty. He escaped preasure, rolled to his left and threw againt his body ( and admitted after the game thats a no-no) and delived a catchable pass right to m davis numbers.

I think that's one of the things that was most infuriating this year, and not only with Dylan. They would have these flashes of amazeballs plays and then follow them up with complete shite shows. Lack of consistency this year was by far the biggest factor in the outcome of this year.

Our pass defense improved. Clemson killed us with a toss/sweep/pass thing that Scott ran over and over, but overall our DB's got better. We also got more of our tackles behind the line in the 2nd half of the season. We weren't A LOT better by seasons end, but we were better.

I agree with that, our Spec Teams got better as well. We were hot garbage during the Vandy game, but improved after that. I don't hold that 58 yarder against Fry, that was a 'frick it-give it a shot' type of moment.

I agree, I wouldn't be shocked to see a whole new 2 Deep, but I'm about 99% we're going to see 2 new starters.

I'm not ready to let him go, maybe that's the problem. We all knew he was a tall lenghy kid out of HS, but he had a good motor and won their GA 5A Def Player of the Year award. Adding weight has been a problem for him, and this season, I didn't think he looked strong out there, he couldn't disengage at all from blockers. I'm hoping that another year in the S&C program will give him a better shot. However, if fall camp rolls around and he's not on the 2 Deep, he should transfer.

Agreed, that was a great pass for a right hand QB rolling left.
