Is Running Up the Score "Disrespectful?"

I don't have an issue with how the score got to where it did on Saturday. The 1st team O was off the field halfway into the 3rd quarter. Taking two time outs just to have the 1st team go out and wave to the crowd got to me a bit. Listening to Deshaun Watson and Mike Williams run their mouths after the game got to me a bit. The score didn't, our Defense couldn't defend a deep sideline pass or a mid range over the middle pass. Plain and simple.

EDIT: To paraphrase the general concept: I don't have an issue with a blow out score, it is the intentional running up of the score that is douchey. I didn't think Saturday was an example of intentional running up, but there were plenty of other examples of douchebaggery to be pissed about.

Since (I think) this is a carry over thread, this is what I was on about.

Gotcha.

See none of that got to me.

Unless they started fighting etc.

This is D-1 (power 5 conference football) It's basically the pros.
If we are "disrespected" then stop em.

I would say the same if we were running it up as well.

Now if this was us vs a 1-10 FCS team.... Maybe different story. But it isn't.

I expect them to do what they did Saturday night, and if roles were reversed I want us to do the same. (Taunting mouthing off etc)

This is a Rivalry, when you're down on the ground I'll spit and piss on you.

The one that really, really got under my skin was the 2 min drive at the end of the 1st half. The game was not in doubt even at that point and they knew they were getting the ball back to start the 2nd. Take a knee and go in. To me that's like stealing 2nd in baseball when your up 7-8+ runs. There are things that you just don't do.

It's OK tho. Our players will remember this and it will come back to bite Dumbo in the @$$ one of these days.

That didn't get me at all really.

I would be more embarrassed if they kneeled it. Knowing that they were basically taking it easy on us in the 2nd quarter?

We are supposed to be this big bad SEC team, but want our HATED in state rival to have some sympathy for us?That would piss me off even more.

I'm depressed that we have to discuss this.

They literally could have scored 80+ without much difficulty.

I have not seen us that over matched in the past 20 years

In some instances, sure. During intense rivalries, not really. If the roles were reversed, we wouldn't have an issue with it.

There was nothing we could do to stop them, and we paid the price for it.

That right there...that is the only time I have an issue in running up the score. But, when teams pull their starters, put in 2nd/3rd team guys and they still can't be stopped then that's not your problem. Those kids deserve a chance to shine too.

If you don't like the way the scoreboard is looking, do something about it.

I have zero issues with them scoring like they did or any team "running up the score" for that matter.

The curtain call timeout is really the only thing I didn't like, but then again, what should we expect from Clemson? With that said, when given the chance, I hope we do the same. Its what makes rivalries great. I hope in the future we are able to get under their skin like we did from 09-13.

You mean in a Clemson game or just game in general?

Game in general.

Even UF/UT in the late 90's....they at least played 3 quarters

I have no problem with it ... I hope we get a chance to reciprocate some day.

I'm with you. but going into games in those days, we knew we had no chance. I actually thought we could win on Saturday...

Really?

I actually felt more confident going into that game than this one.

We entered the swamp ranked 24th in the Nation and a record of 7-3.

This game was in 2008

Nope no issue at all. We couldn't stop shite so why should they.

Was the curtain call thing douchey? yeah but no more than HBC poking and prodding dumbo his entire tenure at SC. This was there retort to all those comments slung there way during our 5 yr win streak by HBC.
Hopefully it sparked some hate inside of Muschamp and brought him into the fold of this rivalry. I know the aggies hate Muschamp because he tortured them while he was a Texas coach, so I hope clemsun has made their mark at the top of his shitlist with that bullshite. Rivalry shenanigans at their finest.
