Have you heard any feedback on how Wolford is doing thus far? I know the team worked out yesterday and the first actual practice isn't for a couple of weeks, but I didn't know if you heard how the guys/other staff are liking him.

Also, who is the new hire that Lattimore tweeted about?

Drew Hughes was apparently hired as Director of Player Personnel however it is also being reported that this particular hire is not the one Lattimore's tweet is pertaining to.

apparently its for another behind the scenes role. My $$ is on former player.

They all love Eric ... he is going to be great. I have a couple of close connections to that OLine and they are excited that he is back.
Drew Hughes, we all thought he was going to be hired to replace Jaime Speronis ... but now we're not so sure given Lattie's tweet which threw us all a curve. We have not heard that Hughes is replacing Robbie Liles ... Robbie is well liked, has a family, has done his job above and beyond. I mean I've known Robbie for a long long time - he's a great guy, ultra secret about the program, you just don't talk to Robbie about inside stuff. So I dunno what all of this means.
So if Hughes is not replacing Speronis as Director of Football Operations, and it does seem like it may be a former player returning ... I dunno.

I thought Jeff Crane was hired and promoted when Speronis was gone or was that for another position? I know Jeff through a friend and he seems like a real cool guy. Thoughts on him and what he's accomplished here? Seems to be Tanner's right hand man

Jeff is a good guy ... he came here with Hyman. I like him alright. Hadn't heard that he was taking over for Speronis .... he has been a fundraiser for our AD and he does some PR work with major boosters. I see him from time to time, have had some dealings with him, he's an okay guy.
I am always wary of redheads in business though.

Isn't robbie kinda ginger?
Posted on 2/8/17 at 11:16 am to GameCocky88
LOL ... yeah, kinda I guess. Never thought about Robbie having a hint of ginger in an auburn sort of way, but I guess he does.
Wait until I see him next week.

Word is the hire Marcus was tweeting about being huge is for the role left vacant by Cedric Williams. He was assistant ol coach and assistant S&C coach. Staff is keeping quiet right now. Personally, idk who would take that job and be considered a huge hire. Will wait and see.

That would have to make us think it would be a former OLineman or DLineman, perhaps one that was here when Lattie was here.
One that was a beast in the weight room, perhaps has a little bit of NFL experience, perhaps one that is a good leader. Someone who graduated on time and would be coming home to work on a graduate degree while coaching part time.
Hmmmmmmmmm ... wonder who could that be.

Travelle is already here I think? I see him down there from time to time.
Matthews and Norwood ... those two would be interesting.

I dunno if this holds any water considering the source(s), but apparently we have hired Corey Miller from Tennessee as assistant S&C. It explains why Latt would be excited about the hire.

South Carolina has filled a spot on its strength staff with a former SEC defensive end, according to a report from TheBigSpur.
Corey Miller, who played at Tennessee from 2010-13, has been hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, according to the report. Miller played his high school football at Byrnes High School in South Carolina and was a teammate of former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore at Byrnes.
The Gamecocks had an opening on the strength and conditioning staff after Cedric Williams went with former USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott to join Elliott’s staff at Georgia State.

Damn ... was his name ever causing some other rumors these past two days. A real curve ball.
So this is THAT Corey Miller ... the one that Lane Kiffin hooked-up (pardon the pun) with the pretty little blonde that talked him into going to Tennessee.
Interesting indeed.
Hey, what the hell ... the guy is evidently an up and comer.
