If you can say, what is Mitch's status. I mean we promised this kid the moon.

Anyone else's comments are welcome.

Yes, Connor Mitch, sorry. Trying to be brief. I am wondering is he in the mix for a starting job, questions about his health.

It's like he dropped off the earth.

When you said "status," I immediately thought transfer. Thanks for clarifying.

From everything I am hearing ... he's going to be given a chance but no one thinks he is D1 QBing material.

Okay, so I can share what I've heard from players and others close to the program alike ... he's scared. He doesn't like getting hit, he panics in the pocket. He is not confident (sic he is insecure in his abilities) ... but he knows the game and is a decent practice player wearing a red jersey.

From what I understand they are really going to focus on McIlwain and Scarnecchia this spring while trying to teach Lorenzo Nunez how to throw the ball ... but he hasn't shown a propensity to work on it on his own with the receivers. Orth is going to be there too ... but no one is willing to comment on him because, I think, no one wants to say anything bad about him because he is such a good kid and hard worker.

I've heard Roper has said he thinks he can make a big time QB out of Scarnecchia if he would put on some muscle and work on his lower body.

Still ... McIlwain is going to be our QB in all likelihood and Mitch will end up transferring IMHO. He's not very well respected, he's had some girlfriend issues and he is a tender hearted kid ... well, "thin-skinned" is what I was told.

Some kids just don't have it between the ears. Sounds to me like he has it between the ears but lacks the killer instinct.

Shaw spoiled us a tad. The guy had miles and miles of heart, will, and the desire to win. Going from that to what you described would definitely be something Gamecock fans don't want to get used to. Sounds like a good kid but lacks some of the main things that it takes to be successful.

Not trying to kick sand in the face, but how the hell was spurrier so wrong? Mitch was probably the last kid spurrier showed effort in recruiting and seemed to think mitch had "it". Or am i wrong? (I usually am)

Mitch was so dominant in high school and he had all the mechanics down pat ... but once he got to college and started getting hit he's just never made the adjustment to the speed of the game and the speed of the decision making process behind center. And he's timid - he's not sure of himself because he's always worried about having to take the lick.

I had one of the old coaches tell me that he has a deer in the headlights look when he is not wearing a red or yellow jersey. They tried everything to break him of it and help him get over his fear ... but he's insecure.

Which is also part of the problem he had with the girlfriend.

As it was explained to me she was smoking hot and hung around as long as she thought he was going to be the star ... but once she found out he was needy she bailed and it really fricked up his head, made him start doubting himself ... and he was basically done.

The girl you are referring to is from my hometown. She now dates another USC star athlete (baseball player).

We had plenty of cleat chasers from North Augusta when I was at Carolina. Something athletes at this level should be used to.

You got to follow up a post like this with pics.

As far as Mitch, I'm still a believer until he shows a reason not to believe on gameday. He missed all but 1 half of a game last year b/c of injury. In HS he was a record setting QB in NC. I'd still like to see what he can do. I hope he doesn't transfer.

Tryna find a girlfriend

It's the first thing that pops up when you google Connor Mitch girlfriend ... he was still tryna getoverit. LINK

It was fairly public knowledge that he had lost it over the girl ... I saw her a couple of times and she was definitely smokin' hot. Everyone drooled over her.

Now, he's trying to make a comeback - start over, start anew. A lot of people are pulling for him. He's actually a very nice kid these days - not nearly as entitled or arrogant as he was when he got here, so the process has humbled him. And he is constantly quoting "trust the process." I think he got that from Cammy Cam.

I guess we'll all see come spring. I think either Scarnecchia or Mitch will be processed eventually ... it usually happens between a Sophomore and Junior Season.

I was reminded, while at the basketball game today, that Mitch has suffered some fairly rough injuries ... which I was told is why he is a bit gunshy.

His hip injury was supposed to be something that you'd expect to see in a bad car wreck and his shoulder injury was far worse than they thought it was once they did the MRI.

He's had some other less damaging injuries along the way including a concussion, a hand injury and a pretty severe ankle injury.
