Spurrier announced in his post-practice presser today that Green and the FB program have "mutually agreed" to part ways. Spurrier said Green wishes to start over new elsewhere.

A decent blow to the depth at CB this season IMO: Green hadn't yet played a snap of college FB, but he was the highest-regarded CB prospect in the 2014 class, and I was hoping to see him make a serious challenge for a starting spot, or at least be a part of a great rotation.

As it is, it could be worse, such as before last season when Ahmad Christian - who was the top returning CB and projected starter for 2014 - chose instead to transfer out which left the position in the hands of very inexperienced players. But this season we're returning 3 of our 4 CBs who played and started last season, and I have high expectations for them to produce this season.

We have other depth at CB in Jamari Smith, who missed all of last season with a broken foot, RS So. Demetrius Smalls, and true Fr. Darin Smalls and Rashad Fenton. That's 7 CBs with 2 of them being true Fr. - hopefully we'll be able to RS one or both of the freshmen and do fine with the remaining 5.

Still it's a surprising and disappointing development today....

Chris Clark and Jay Phillips were just taking about this on 107.5 The Game. Wonder what happened? I had high hopes for this kid, but it seems like he couldn't get his stuff straight. I didn't know that he pretty much volunteered to RS last year.

Was this more of a character issue or couldn't cut it in the classroom? He had grade issues coming out of high school.

Yeah, while being recruited he talked all kinds of crap about coming in and taking a CB spot. Then he got here he immediately told the coaches he wanted a RS.

Even though he didn't pan out here I'm glad he's getting another shot with Indiana. I wish him the best with his new team.
