This line was supposed to be the strength of the team and its absolute dogshit.

Oh you know Roper and Muschamp are just itching to fire him. I doubt they wanted to retain him.

Elliott should be fired tomorrow.

3rd and 1 and we get stuffed ... he's gotta go. This OLine is pitiful.

Pit-eh-full.

A&M is going to butt rape us without the lube.

Lose 3 in a frickin row to Kentucky? WTF!

I posted this over on TBS, thought I'd share here too. It's in regards to Elliot.

quote:

He has been here 6 years and online has looked good when 2 of our best backs ever were here in Marcus and MD28 not to mention Connor Shaw. I respect the man as a Gamecock, but his lines have under performed tremendously. Plus, he constantly recruits projects and never let's the guys get comfortable in one position. I understand the need for cross training but the constant juggling does no good for the front 5 nor the backs. The experiment is over if BAMA wants him let them have him. We need to move on.

Heard the first couple callers on the post game show ask/talk about why Elliot is still here and they said Muschamp has back Elliot since he's got here and who else would you hire right now.

Mike and Cory y'all are both right.

Elliott has been here six years ... no more excuses for Elliott. This is his OLine and it is not a good one. It's pathetic.

Jay and Brent can cover for Elliott all they want ... bottom line is we can find and hire a great OLine coach somewhere who wants to earn half a million bucks a year.

Only Bama pays their OLine coach more.

Elliott is still here because mUSChamp did not have time to find a better coach and Dillman is close to mUSChamp and he stood up for Elliott because Elliott and he go back to their App St days together.

Elliott has got to go. He's bad joo joo for this football team and this program.

I've always felt he wasn't that good of a coach. Like someone else said when we have been able to run the ball it was because we've had great players. He's had plenty of time to prove his worth & it's just not there. This was his season to show his unit was gonna be a strong spot for us & I'm shocked we've looked this bad so far. We had 81 yards rushing in the first half and ended with 91... how is that possible lol

Brandon got leveled a few times.
Before the sack at the end of the game, we had I think 135 rushing.

They looked decent in the first half from what I could see but BMac had no time in the second, I mean none. Now granted, it was McIlwains first road start but for a unit that was touted as a strength in the preseason... I'm lost on this one. Sick and tired of Elliot and his "rah rah" attitude when his body of work just isn't all that impressive. I'll give him credit for taking over last season and getting us that Vandy win but damn if I can't figure out how he is still coaching here. It's clear his unit is a huge liability and I hope to god muschamp addresses it in the offseason.

End rant

I'm a little confused as to why we don't throw TE/RB drags across the middle. Everything is on the edge. Wr/rb screens, sideline throws etc. I do not think I have seen a seam route or te/RB drag across the middle.

Why is this? Do we not have them in the playbook? No trust in bmac to throw them? Can bmac even see over the line to throw them?
Shaw was only 6'1" and he ate defenses up on those type throws.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed all of our throws are perimeter throws.

I mentioned the same thing last night to a buddy of mine. I'm thinking they don't trust him being able to throw those.

I've noticed it and I agree, at first glance it might be because of McElwain's height.

Now, we've tried a few of those and they've been dropped ... so that might have something to do with it as well.

Could be that this OLine is not doing a good job of forcing interior DLinemen to keep their hands down ... there is a technique to that and it is supposed to be part of the blocking scheme especially when the primary is the dump underneath - although that's usually the 3rd or 4th checkdown in those situations. And, if that's the case I'm not sure McElwain has the time to stand in there and dump those off - 80% of the time he is under pressure and having to move.

Those last couple of plays last night though, those were McElwain's fault. He should have stepped up into the pocket rather than retreated and tried to make a break for it. Had he glided up into the pocket (Taneyhill was the best I've ever seen at doing it but Shaw was very good) he might have had a chance to dump a couple of those off and let the receiver do the rest - I dunno.
