Overall, hitting was meh, against a good team with a couple good pitchers. We didn't have to face Ober though. Martin, Gore, Destino, Schrock and Bright did well. Destino is what they billed him up to be, he hit the clutch HR in game 3 to put CofC away.

Fielding was really solid 1.000 for the whole team and 0 errors, so really solid work defensively from the guys.

I was very impressed by Widener, he faced 8 batters and struck out 6, and allowed 0 hits, he just dominated. Crowe also did very well, 10 strike outs over 6 innings and allowed 4 hits with 1 run. Wynkoop didn't do great, but our hitting that game didn't do that much to help him either. Reagan and Scoot also didn't have their best showing, but remember that CofC was a ranked team going into this game, finished #16 nationally last year, so this wasn't a team we were just supposed to dominate the whole series.

We did well enough to win the series 2-1, and we didn't make a lot of mistakes. We only attempted 3 stolen bases, and we succeeded at all 3. I would think we would steal more against good teams, but at least we were doing it at the right time and didn't get caught.

First game was really disappointing.. but I was impressed by the team's response in the double header. Defense was really impressive, the bats will come.

I think it's good that we started the season with a good/ranked team. The cocks didn't have a month of beating up on low level teams and getting a false sense of confidence only to be gut punched in conference play. We had a quality opponent right out of the gate, an opponent that was ready to play. Now I feel like we know exactly where we are and we can work to get better and hopefully be better by conference play.

Yeah, I wish we would open with tougher opponents more often ... especially at home.

This team is seriously loaded with talent.

I couldn't help thinking that first game had a weird feeling to it - maybe it was because Martin was benched, I dunno. It just had a weird feeling to it right from the get-go.

I was at all three games, and I think the players were flat in game one due to the fact that it was freezing cold. Reminded me of the Papa Johns Bowl.

It was so weird, it almost felt like we weren't really playing. Kind of just scrimmaging or batting around.

Very weird air. And I think that's what the guys were talking about in the post game interviews.
