for the the opening of the 2014 football season?

Winner will get a TBD prize. All estimates must be made before January 31, 2013 for the prize, but feel free to post later you want to project for fun.

Place your projection in your response.

Ties are broken by predicting the offenses.

Question? Are we talking players period, or players who would actually contribute enough to make an effect with their absence?

Of the former I could see five or so being suspended (2 for grades, 2 for drugs/drinking and 1 for some kind of aggravated assault).

If the latter, then I'm going to go out on a limb and say zero. The first two games are so important for the season that Georgia wants to have that, barring murder charges, none of the key elements (Defensive and Offensive Starters and contributing backups) will be missing.

3 unspecified violation of team rules
2 academics
1 assualt/battery

Is it gonna count when someone gets booted from the team entirely over the summer, e.g. Isiah Crowell?

Yes, any suspension that leads to dismissal from the team counts.

Dexter Morant left the team today, but wasn't suspended. Although I heard academics might have had something to do with it

Noted, but it will have to be a suspension. I believe he just quit, so that won't count. Although, an academic suspension will count if the player is indeed suspended.

So, if UGA Player X is academically inellgibile to play before the season and this results in an official academic suspension, it will count.

With the case of Morant, he was never officially placed on academic suspension.

I say only 2....I think the heavy losses due to suspension last season will cause the coaching staff to bear down a little harder, and keep the lunatics under lock-down a bit better. Plus all the prima-donna defensive players that have left the program will leave the newcomers not so confident in their positions yet, as everyone will be vying for PT on the two-deep. They will be more cautious about getting into trouble than the veterans were this past season...

But still 2....

Just a reminder, the predictions are now "locked." Any edits to your original prediction going forward will result in a DQ.

Here is the first, Zander Ogletree (not to be confused with his brother/teammate who is going pro), was dismissed from the team for a 3rd failed drug test.

If you had dismissal for drug test or "unspecified team rule" for at least one of your reasons, you're still in the hunt. If not, you're out.

I know, we're just over a week in and already they've had the first casualty. Your chances to win just took a big hit early. It's not so much spring camp as it is spring break, we should get a clearer picture of who is still in the running after that.
