We keep Elliot as HC and keep majority of the staff intact after the season. That thought is giving me nightmares.

No. That would require us to finish the season strong. With @ A&M, @ UT, and Clemson and UF (even without Grier) on the docket...no way he wins enough to get a "let's give him a shot" vote.

I hope they do run the table and get something going in recruiting, but even if they do, I don't see Elliott keeping the dead weight. All but Botkin would probably be gone on defense. Bubba would need to go as well. He might keep Wharton, Mangus and Joe Rob, but even that's not a given. He'll keep some of the coaches but not all, but even then we're talking about him running the table here and recruiting very strong for this current situation.

I dont know from listening to Ray in his presser today, it certainly sounded to me like he WANTS to hire Elliot, BAAAD. Then when asked about it being the first big hire job he has had to do since taking over he said, "You don't think hiring Holbrook was a big hire?" That concerns me about his attitude on hiring. Its like just cause thats how he got into coaching its how all should. Hire in-house seems to be his thing. Hope I'm wrong on that front. SCrooster should be able to shed more light but that is the vibe i picked up on.

Some of the Carolina fans who talk about wanting their version of Dabo don't really see that Elliott is basically that template. The difference is that I don't think Elliott would embarrass the university with some of his garbage. But he's a good recruiter, he loves the school, he is fiery, he's highly energetic, etc.

I think Elliott is a viable candidate for the gig. But if, for some reason he pulls a rabbit outta the hat and gets the gig, I'd be stunned to see him keep anyone outside of Mangus or Sands.

Of course I'd like to see what type of other national candidates Carolina can bring to the table.. but if it falls through and Elliot is the best candidate I wouldn't be completely disappointed. Judging by what I saw today, I like his fiery personality. He's right, these next 6 weeks will serve as his audition when it's time to compare him to our other candidates for HC..

If Elliot does become our next HC hopefully we'll splash hire OC/DC. Everybody else can GO. I'm not really a fan of keeping anybody on staff besides Elliot and perhaps Botkin.
