I will link it when I get home, damn office comp, but the gist of the article said that, while he will take Elliot's opinion into consideration, Muschamp will be making the final decision on who starts on the OL.

Couple of things:

Tony over there who has a pretty good knowledge of the inner workings of our program stated that Muschamp has always had the final say.

While I have not watched the video from whence the quote came, the direct quote was:

I will have a conversation with Shawn, but I will make the final decision.

To me, if Muschamp is anything he is deliberate. If he had been doing this all along he would have said that he has been having conversations and making the final decision. I'm sure he isn't completely in the dark as far as who was going to start on the line, but it just struck me as something that sounded like Elliot had been given some leeway and has been found wanting.

Wish I could help - not a paying member of any subscription sites.

I hope that means mUSChamp is just waiting for this season to be over before firing his arse.

Unfortunately I am hearing that is probably not going to be the case. Elliott is evidently involved with two recruits we really want to either get or keep and mUSChamp has said he will not fire a coach after one year because he felt like he was too quick to pull the trigger at Florida. Something else about injuries yada yada.

I'm hoping App State hires Elliott as soon as their coach leaves to take a bigger gig. And hopefully mUSChamp will have someone lined-up to take his place who will actually be able to do the job.

If a HC has had to take over the decision making process from the OLine coach ... that ain't a vote of confidence for the OLine coach .... especially when the process is made public.

First of all, the article was not written by Tony.

And the writer wisely CHA by using stuff already in the public domain.

"This week, offensive line coach Shawn Elliott and Muschamp have the ability to move some guys around and try to find the best combination of players to be successful. At week’s end, Muschamp, in close consultation with Elliott, will make the call on the starting five."

“We’ll have a conversation with Shawn, or I will,” Muschamp said. “I’ll make the final call on all positions as far as what we’re going to do, but will certainly listen for his input.”

Hope this clears a bit.

While it is true that the article itself was written by John Whittle, what I was referring to was a response that Tony wrote in the comments.

A poster basically said that the writing is on the wall, meaning Elliot is getting the axe. To which, Tony said that Muschamp has always had the final say on personnel.

mUSChamp probably has th final say-so on everything to do with that program right now. I'm just not sure he's ever stressed that in public before - could be, might be, that he did that on purpose.

I may be reading too much into it ... it just seems auspicious.

Still yet, it's not looking like anyone is going to be fired this year. And if this OLine comes together who knows ... I mean it's not like Elliott is not the second highest paid OLine coach in the richest conference in the country.

$500,000.00 a year ... that's good money.

mUSChamp is hearing the blowback about the OLine. And he's not blind ... but he's got to stand behind his decision to keep Elliott at the moment.

I would love to see our OLine dominate UT - I really would.

The quote came from Muschamp's weekly presser.

Here's the quote in context.

You can infer alot from tone and body language that is lost in a print article. When I listened to it live, it seemed to me that Muschamp was specifically talking about making the call with regards to the health of a player. But ya'll can watch/listen and decided for yourselves.

No, after listening to it again while watching his facial expressions I think I agree with your assessment. Sounded and looked like it was more about Park's ankle.

He seemed kind of relaxed for a change didn't he? When you view it entirely .... I guess he's that way after a win maybe.
