Pretty fricking pathetic. The defense's pitiful attempts at playing defense seems to be getting worse and worse with every passing week. I'm at a total loss on this season....

He & the whole entire defense staff needs to go as well.

I'm ready to see Spurrier ride off in the sunset as well, he cost us yet another game tonight.

It's comical at this point. The entire defensive staff can go as far as I'm concerned.

We don't have te talent on the dline to have a decent defense.

It wouldn't matter if our secondary was decent, you can't give QBs 7 seconds to throw the ball. Someone is gonna get open.

I'd wait to pass judgement until next year after we finally get an influx of DEs

Ward has missed and had bad evaluation of talent on this team. The personelle on defense is not good a and that falls on Ward. The bullshite scheme he ran on the Vols last drive was horrendous

I question LW's ability to evaluate talent. He claimed during the offseason that he had the personnel in place to run a 3-4 defense and we saw the outcome of that until the Furman game when SOS said the D needed changing. Now we see his 4-2-5/4-3 scheme and it isn't much better at all. The only guys making plays consistently are the ones that EJ recruited....

We didn't get any of our DEs from the 14 class. Without them we had better pass rushers at LB than DE, so a 3-4 made sense

Then why aren't we blitzing from the LBs and secondary more often to get pressure? That's the bit that doesn't make sense to me. They know the line is not up to getting pressure so we just back off and hope the back seven can cover forever or pick up the running backs who just stroll through the line? It's pretty baffling.

I think that's a good point. Our defense is bad b/c we don't have a pass rush. I watched BAW get stood up all night, nobody was getting at Dobbs. David Johnson ended up more on his back than in the backfield. We don't have any DE's this year.

Our DT's are to blame as well. Surratt may be injured, but he wasn't an elite player to start with. Lamin has been completely underwhelming this season. I haven't seen him make 1 great play all year, I don't think he's a fighter. Our DL is just charmin soft.

Here's the conundrum we are all in.

IF we fire Ward and some Asst's, how do we keep the recruiting class together? This is the best class we've arguably had under Spurrier rating's wise (the other would be the '07 class.)

Do we fire Ward/Staff during the season? Probably not. Too disruptive to the last games, it would probably be even worse than it is.

Do we fire Ward/Staff after the clemson game? Probably, b/c I don't see how we can win 2 more games and make a bowl.

The earlier after the season we get new staff, the better chance they have at talking to the recruits and maintaining the commitment. If we wait until January, we won't have as much time.

IF we fire Ward/Staff directly after NSD, then that is pretty deceitful to the recruits who thought they were coming here to play for those position coaches. Also, some of the great available DC/Position candidates will be gone and taken by other schools who had a staff change earlier.

OR

Do we stay the course? Do we trust that Deke and Ward can get it done next year with the right personnel in place who can rush a passer. Can Lewis be the next great Carolina DE? Can Key gain 20 more lbs and be a solid contributor next season. Can Blackshear heal AND be in shape for next season? Can Sawyer lose some weight and become a pass rush threat? Will Wideman make it in? We have 5 highly ranked DE's incoming, can at least 2 of them become SEC level starters and the other 3 contributors? Is Deke the man to make that happen?

I'm starting to think that what happens at UF has some impact on what happens at SC. If Muschamp is let go AND would be good with being a DC again, I don't think Spurrier passes him up. Could we also get Brad Lawing back too? (I no longer give a shite about his personal stuff, he can coach, he can make players elite, he took a 3 star Devin Taylor and helped make him a starter for the Lions.)

What kills me, I mean absolutely infuriates me, is that our defense isn't getting ANY better as the season goes on. We are fricking terrible every week, there is not progression. This is the best offense we've ever had in Carolina, and if we just had a defense HALF as good as '10, '11, '12, '13 we would be 7-1.
