The problem is.......

If you fire Holbrook... who do you hire? SC has Alabama-in-football like expectations for baseball....

The first call better be to Monte Lee, without question.

I just checked the domain and it's still available via GoDaddy. I'm as tempted now as ever because Chad has gotta go. This shite is embarrassing. This is the equivalent of Duke missing out on the NCAA tournament in basketball.

Interesting fact, SC has made the 2nd most Super Regionals in College Baseball. Right now, we're worried about making the field of 64 this season....

I like Monte Lee..
We definitely need to stick with somebody with recruiting ties to SC, Georgia, NC.. and getting our hands on more of that elite prep school talent in the northeast can't hurt as well..

Bottom line: I think Holbrook gets a shot at another year.. not that I agree with it, but he deserves that at least. I guess.

I don't think he deserves it, at all, but he'll get it.

I'm concerned about that, though. When USC misses the tournament this year, and he keeps his job (when he shouldn't), he'll then probably sneak into a regional next year and get waxed, and keep his job for good. We're likely to languish in mediocrity in that Tanner won't quite pull the trigger cos Chad will do just enough to keep his job.

He needs to be out at the end of the year. And Monte Lee should be the first phone call.

Agree with all this. Infatically.

I don't think any single bad season should get a coach fired. That kind of carousel didn't do our football program any good for year.

With Holbrook, he doesn't have any credibility banked up. Every year that he's been here, his team has performed worse than the season before it.

If the best Holbrook can muster is a team that shite its pants against a vastly outmatched UNC team in a Super a few years ago, then he's not the right coach for the job.

Vehemently disagree. Comparing our baseball and football programs is apples and oranges. There's no excuse for baseball to never make the postseason. A down year for us should be a #2 seed in a regional somewhere. Should we can a football coach after one putrid season? No. We don't have the history and accomplishments and longevity of success to back that up.

Should we can our baseball coach after an embarrassing, putrid season? Abso-freakin-lutely. We're better than this. Inexcusable for our powerhouse baseball program .

Yes their is. No one makes the post-season every single year, in any sport. There isn't a program or franchise alive that hasn't had "down years". LSU baseball missed it all together as recently as 2011 and have since returned to Omaha, won a conference title, and won 3 conference tourny titles (albeit, winning the tourny title is kind of their thing)

Vastly outmatched? Don't get me wrong. We were in position to win that Super, but that was also on the road against the #1 overall seed.

I agree, but a shite season like this to top off a steady decline during a coach's tenure should definitely get him the boot.

I mean under Holbrook:
Season 1. Lost in a Super Regional we didn't host
Season 2. Lost in a Regional we did host
Season 3. Won't even make the tourney

I'm not one to call for a coach to be fired but thats pathetic considering he inheriting a team coming off of two national titles and a national runner-up.

Things just don't seem to come as naturally to this team like they did under Tanner...we had more chemistry and leadership under his teams. I just don't see any of that under Holbrook. The few times we see them goofing around and trying to be loose in the dugout just feels a bit forced to me.

UNC got pushed to the brink of elimination by someone in their own regional. When USC went there, it was pretty apparent that USC was better than UNC at every position. Yeah, they were the No. 1 overall seed, but for some reason the NCAA puts emphasis on ACC teams. USC was a measurably better team than UNC was that season. Losing that series was pretty inexcusable.

The eyeball test definately made it seem that the unc super 2 years ago was an epic bedshitting.
What we are doing right now is not just losing, its rolling over and unbuttoning our bra.

Just to be clear, if he was fired I wouldn't exactly be too torn up about it. I'm just saying everyone has rough patches, including other powerhouse and including us under Tanner.

Looking at what's going on at Vandy and the way they are recruiting.. Corbin is on a roll that I don't think will ever slow down.

NCAA needs to lift the scholarship restrictions so that public schools like SC can at least level the playing field somewhat against schools like Vandy..
