He was listed as the starting CB then didn't play AT ALL. Any ideas as to what's up with that? Was it strictly to motivate Lammons? But why didn't he play at all? Not even special teams.

May be the scheme we ran on defense. Did we run any traditional 4-3?

I'm not sure of any scheme where we don't use 2 CBs....remember he was moved to CB, so he wasn't supposed to play at safety. Yes it was strange considering it was talked about during game week just days before the game, and then once the game started he didn't start. He didn't even play in the rotation, or shows as participating in the game in ANY role.
I can only think he was hurt somehow, or got into trouble and was suspended for the game. Maybe missing curfew or something, although that's total conjecture. Can't think of any other reason that makes sense. We'll find out soon enough I'm sure...

I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to try to find out today.

True. They said he would start. Maybe it was hard to get him in because of the tempo UNC played with.

I did some checking .... very strange. Total black out.
When I asked the question it was answered with a question.
The question was, "better to ask yourself, did he even make the trip?"
I was left hanging with that and chose not to pursue it any further. It can only mean one thing to me.

I dunno ... never had a question handled like that before. I just gathered that I had probably better not push the subject - it would have been crossing a line.
I conjectured a reason and was ignored ... the subject was changed and I had to respect that.

Been wondering myself about this. Spurrier's press conference is Tuesday, right?

Yeah, I respect that. I thought you meant you knew what one thing, not that it's time to quit prying

Yeah I dunno ... they used to have Sunday night teleconferences. I don't know if they are still doing that or not? Surely some hack beat writer picked up on it and will ask the question.
I'm really kinda surprised something wasn't released about it by now.
lol ... I'm not even quite sure what the answer I got means. Who knows, they may be trolling for leaks. But I never share the really juicy stuff ... I know better. The Holtz and Scott years had really juicy stuff.

Lammons is doubtful for Kentucky. Still no mention of Chaz elder playing.

If Elder didn't make the trip for UNC, then he was
1) injured - but if this was so, and there's no discipline issue, then I'm quite sure the injury would have been reported, and nothing has been disclosed.
2) disciplined - in this case, there could be no mention of it by the coaching staff: Kendall inquired about it to Hoke after Tuesday's practice, and Hoke pretty much had nothing to say about it. It would be a crying shame if Chaz was named the starter, and then got into trouble with the coaches right after it.
Either case, we need Chaz to at least rotate in if they are really serious about him playing CB....

It's strange about Chaz ... I dunno. When I got to Honolulu I had a text from one my contacts to call him ... so I did thinking it was going to be about Elder.
It wasn't ... it was about tickets for my Son and some of his friends he's bringing in for the KY game while I'm gone.
I asked about Chaz anyway and again with a strange response ... "better to forget about it and quit asking - he's probably going to play this weekend ... we'll see."
So I laughed and shut up.
Just strange.

I saw that interview. Hoke basically said that at the time they were required to release the depth chart, Elder had done better that week in practice, so he was named the starter. However he said Lammons did better in the following days after the depth chart release, so they went with Lammons at the game.

I heard on the radio yesterday about Lammons. Heath Cline said that Al Harris Jr. and Rico McWilliams were listed as starters.

seems to me like they're trolling for leaks
