84% of the CB projections are to SC.
Roy "I swear I didn't know" Williams said he's never recruited a player this hard.
Seventh was at the SC scrimmage over the weekend, and was hanging out with his close frine Aj'a WIlson.
SC got his last official visit.
thebigspur.com's John Whittle will be covering the announcement live from Hammond School.
I like SC's chances here, we'll know in 1 hour.

two I can think of that he really thought he was going to get Kevin Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal that may have made them both Top Five classes if not #1.
Even if they would've just 1&Done'd us, that would have been incredible.

ETA: Huell visited on the 16th of October. He says it is down to FSU, Miami and SC. FSU says they have a hard, solid commit. Everyone else says it is a soft commit. Kid says he is going to commit (solid) in April but everyone else thinks it will be sooner. He's playing in the Under Armour 24 game ... I guess we'll see if that helps us or not. He is thinking about coming back up here for a game, an unofficial visit, in January or February. He still texts back and forth with Frank Martin and Lamont Evens on a regular, almost daily, basis. His Momma likes Frank Martin and South Carolina the most, or so some are saying. So that might really work in our favor because he loves his Momma big time. And while everyone is touting the work Martin and Evans are putting-in on this kid ... word is that it'll be Martin and Perry Clark that close him. Clark has some connection down in Miami that is close to Huell.
Great info, thank you!

Shouldn't be terribly surprised. It's awfully difficult to compete with the giant across the border when it comes to basketball.
Hopefully Martin can put in a solid season this year and keep building. Gut punch, for sure.

Owell ... I know this is gonna sound bitter but I was thinking it before Woods ever made up his mind - but I really hope UNC ends-up on probation for the academic scandal stuff.

They won't. There are some programs that are immune to NCAA rules and enforcement. The University (sic) of North Carolina is one of them.

This one feels a little like some big football recruits that we have lost out of state over the past years.

I guess he didn't want to have to write any papers or attend classes.
UNC and their shithole of a "university".

I agree 100% ... but something really needs to be done about that.
Fans need to put pressure on the NCAA. The NCAA has become as bad, or worse ... than the cronyism we see in the Federal Government IMHO.

I sm surpised he didn't pick SC. There is a chance he flips once the sanctions are announced. A LOI isn't binding for the student until he actually enrolls in classes.
ETA techniclly he has to attend a class too and be counted on the roster, but we all know UNC doesn't have actual classes for student athletes.

Maybe Mizzou could be useful to the SEC after all.....

Hey we already got 2 players on the roster that most sites rated better than Woods...plus several other talented players. We just need to build around those guys and keep improving and start winning games. I don't know about making the NCAAT this season but I feel strongly the NIT should be attainable.
There's a lot more talented prospects in the '17 & '18 classes that we're in good shape with, that a 20+ game winning season and post-season play - thus indicators of positive improvement and being just on the cusp of the NCAAT - would do wonders in providing ammunition to Coach Martin and our staff's recruiting efforts.
It's just hard to pull the top in-state prospects to USC when we're regularly churning out losing seasons, let alone the elite national ones. Just keep doing work, Coach Martin!

Well said Conway!
I'm going to bed on that one. It's been a long party hard day for me with Seventh Woods, Veteran's Day, beer, wine, a good cigar, the wife fixed me a nice meal ... all-in-all a good day and your post is the capper Conway. You are 100% absolutely correct.

There's not been a 2016 class basketball update lately, so I thought I would break the ice with a picture of one of our commits.

-- South Carolina has been by to check on 2016 guard Cartier Diarra (Florence/West Florence), who has seen his stock jump up in a big way this season. Diarra visited St. Louis last weekend and has a trip scheduled to see Kansas State this this weekend. A commitment to the Wildcats this weekend is certainly possible.

-- A new name to keep an eye on is four-star forward Alpha Diallo (Wolfeboro, N.H./Brewster Academy). Diallo took an official visit to VCU in October but decided not to sign with a school during the early signing period. I have not confirmed whether or not Diallo has an official offer at this point, but I know the staff is very interested in him. Here’s a recent report on Diallo from Phenom Hoop Report.

We missed the boat by not offering this '18 prospect up in NC.
4*/5* Rochen Black
He is a stud as a Soph. He's a good student too. When the unc punishments come out and if they involve some post season stuff carried over for 3 years, we may have a shot of getting him if we offer.
His family are unc sidewalkers though, so this was a big deal for them. However, there are handlers/mentors in the Concord area as well.

Rivals article on 4* SF Alpha Diallo: LINK
quote:
There were two schools on hand to watch Diallo in action this past weekend, South Carolina and Providence. He has not visited either school, but plans to after the season.
On what he's looking for in the right school: “Early playing time is important and just being comfortable with the guys on the team. I’m just looking for an all-around good fit for me.”
The four-star small forward has four other visits he wants to take and doesn’t have anything set up yet. He says he doesn’t have a leader and all the schools are on an even playing field. When asked what schools were on his list he only named Providence, South Carolina, VCU, Florida and Miami
